Product Overview

Install a safety grab bar or towel ring on your tiled wall with the aid of a DEWALT 1/2 in. Diamond Drill Bit. The welded-diamond tip is designed to bore through abrasive, dense tiles, including glazed porcelain and ceramic in addition to rock-hard, solid-body porcelain. It operates at high speeds courtesy of reverse-spiral threads that allow continuous water cooling so you can complete drilling work quickly and cleanly. Plugged material is easily removable from the core-ejection slot so you can make repeated cuts without slowing down.

  • Ideal for use by bath and kitchen installers and commercial and residential plumbers
  • Reverse spiral thread allows continuous water feed for longer life and increased speed
  • Creates 1/2 in. holes in tile walls and countertops to install accessories like safety grab bars, water supply lines, towel bars, toilet paper dispensers and paper towel holders
  • Hardened alloy steel construction stands up to repeated use and high-heat conditions with proper water cooling

Customer Questions & Answers

Does this bit fit in any drill?

Asked by: Tess
You need a drill with a 1/2" chuck, so it will not fit in a light duty drill with a 3/8" chuck

In the detail section it says cordless drill. Why won't this work in a corded drill? Thanks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked on glass as hoped Needed to drill hole in glass, pointed masonry bits resulted in cracks and breakage, this worked on glass very well, no excess heating, good productivity.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job! I had never tried to drill a hole in glass bottles before, and I soon discovered a glass and tile drill bit will not work for what I needed to do. I found the information I needed on "You-Tube" and then found that Home Depot had what I needed at the best price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A diamond bit that lasts! I bought the 1/4" version of this bit to drill holes in high quality 5/16 ceramic wall tile for towel bars, safety bars, etc. I have done 30 holes, and the bit is still going strong. I keep it wet (important) by holding a spounge a couple inches above the bit, and slowly squeezing out a trickle of water which runs down the wall. Two hands are needed to hold the drill until the glazed surface is penetrated, but after that, I use at least a couple of fingers to hold the spounge (a helper would be even better). Note -- at the beginning of a hole, the bit can skid out of place (probably like any tile bit) if you're not very careful. A drill with an extra support handle is helpful. Never let the spounge get close to the bit... it will grab it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from small purchase, big results. Solid, well made bit. Very good on all surfaces, especially glass. But will wobble if you don't have a good steady starting position

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Drill bit for glass This bit allows better flow of liquid to lubricate the glass while cutting. I have been purchasing other bits but this one seems to last longer. Better quality. I have not used on marble or other materials but believe it would work just as well.
