I have two Dewalt DW511 hammer drills.I got this one on sale for $80 at the HD in Melbourne,FL.I am a contractor and I use it mostly for drilling 5/32" and 3/16" holes through concrete slabs ,bricks and block walls (5-10 holes or so at a time) for installing tap cons to anchor wood studs. This drill is great for this task.Occasionally I have used it for drilling up to 1/2" holes through concrete and it did well, but I took my time.It is a small drill and has it's limitations. It's not my $500 Bosch combination hammer drill ,which can drill 1/2" and up holes in concrete slabs all day, quickly without breaking a sweat. All in all,the Dewalt DW511 is a great inexpensive hammer drill for small jobs.If you are looking to drill many 1/2" or larger holes into hard concrete slabs quickly, you will burn this hammer drill out quickly. It is not made for that.Use the right tool for the job.

This Hammer drill has been pretty good so far. I am using the Bosch 1/4 in bits that are about 4 dollars each. The hammer mode is not earth shaking but its ok. I wouldnt use this drill for any 1/2 inch bit stuff
but that is the job for a pro model that will cost 3-400 dollars. Overall its good for 90$. DONT drive this too much and overheat it. That is what people do and then complain about their tool breaking. Take it easy
and let it cool down every 20 seconds.

I had purchased another hammer drill from Home Depot (Ryobi) and went through two of them before realizing they were junk. Took me forever to drill 1 1/2" into a slab in my basement. Almost as if I was hitting rebar, but there was no way I was hitting rebar in every hole I was drilling. The chuck fell off the first one, so I got a replacement. The second one, after 2 hours of use, was so hot, the drill/hammer switch melted and fell off, and the actual switch in the drill melted and resolidified itself locked in hammer mode. I returned the second one and bought this Dewalt Hammer Drill.
NIGHT AND DAY! I can drill 6 holes in the time it took me to drill one with the Ryobi - using the bit I took out of my Ryobi I had returned. Very lightweight, but very powerful. It's a shame to think of all the time I wasted not having this drill for the 300+ holes I had to do.

I needed to drill some holes in a concrete slab, so did a little research. This particular Dewalt VSR hammer drill got excellent reviews, and I've rarely gone wrong by following them, so I bought one. The first hole took forever and the bit was completely trashed, so I took the bit back. Turns out it was the wrong kind for what I was doing (guess I should have asked for help...), and the HD employee helped me get the right one. I took that one home and finished all the holes in about 20 minutes! The drill itself performed perfectly, although it did get quite hot....hence the 4 stars instead of 5.

Want to drill into a brick wall? I did, and my Black & Decker 18V cordless was not up to the task. I initially thought I may have been using the wrong anchors, but after research I picked this drill up. The subsequent job, while before was pretty tough, was LAUGHABLY SIMPLE with this drill. I literally laughed like a mad scientist as I pre-drilled and drove 1-1/2" long screws into 80 year old masonry in seconds.
If you're reading this, then this is the drill you need. Period. Would have paid $150 for this.

This drill is very powerfull and will work for most jobs or task needed to be complete. But as many said, dont try to use it for too many holes over 1/2 ", it will get hot and start dropping grease. But in overall is a great drill and I love it, but fall short with it and im buying a D25223K also from Dewalt.

Purchased this hammer drill knowing that I would need it in the near future. 4 months later, started a bathroom renovation and used the drill for the first time. Used the hammer drill setting to drill some holes in concrete, but noticed it got hot really fast. After drilling 3 holes and allowing the drill to cool, I started on the fourth hole and grease started shooting out from the sides and chuck area. Bought this corded hammer drill thinking it was stronger and built to last, especially with the Dewalt name backing it up, but was severely disappointed. Fortunately, it's covered under warranty, but I sure didn't expect to have to use the warranty after it's initial use.
