The saw itself is good and an old favorite in the market. But I will say that DeWalt is going cheap these days. They're now giving this ten cent cloth bag instead of the great tough cases they used to come with. I want my tools to last. That means keeping them in a well protected case. I'm very disappointed with this case as it wont protect my tool at all. The zipper is even cheap. Also the home depot description is incorrect for this tool. It no longer comes with the "heavy-duty case" that the description list. Type 1 and 2 used to come with that case, the stores are now being stocked with Type 3 of this model. I checked/confirmed this with the DeWalt parts website. Which by the way will cost you $24.67 plus shipping... that's something that USED to come with the tool.

My husband loved this exact saw for his birthday this past August. I was browsing for the perfect gift here on the Home Depot website and came across this Dewalt Reciprocating Saw and had to get it for his birthday. Make matters awhole lot better they were only $89 dollars. It was awhole new experience with this saw we are renovating our house and it was so much easier taking out the old nails by just sawing it and taking off the drywalland putting on a new one. Even with plumbing sawing the pipes. It was like a miracle! never saw anything like it! thanks to this website i found my husband a great gift. i recommend this powertool for everyone!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MM4cooking Gift for DIY youngest son.
This was purchased by me as a gift for my youngest novice handyman son. His comments back to me are as follows. It's perfect! This saw was exactly what he wanted. Perfect size, balance and very capable of doing the job for which he wanted it. He likes the ergonomic cutting positions, enabling him to maintain a firm and steady grip with the saw while he's cutting. He likes the power and cutting action. based on his comments this reciprocating saw was everything it was described as in its advertisement write up. Definitely a great quality item for the price and a respected name of reliability.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Steve Anyone needing a high quality, multi-purpose, high performance cutting tool should buy one of these
This is an amazingly versatile saw. It has performed beautifully on every job I’ve used it for. It has accomplished unbelievable tasks for me flawlessly from cutting lumber, metal roofing material, tail pipe, bolts and nails; to trimming trees, cutting firewood, and fabrication of custom steel parts from ¼ inch flat steel sheets for farm equipment repair. It will accept a wide range of blade types and changing blades takes only seconds and almost no effort. Anyone needing a high quality, multi-purpose, high performance cutting tool should buy one of these. The value received for price paid is excellent. This saw is a great investment that will save the user time and effort in completing many different types of projects.

I've used this saw more often than I thought I would when I bought it. I was a little skeptical about the Dewalt brand name but it seems to be adequate. This saw has sufficient power and the quick blade changeout is great! The only bad thing about this saw which goes for all recip saws is that they are dangerous to use but they're just so useful for any application where rough and quick cutting is required that they sell like mad. I thought the Dewalt is about $10 too much for the level of quality on this tool but it is a good tool.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by PeteW great saw for the price
i bought this saw when it was on sale for 70 dollars and for that price you cant beat it. this saw is lacking any features of todays recip saws ie. Brushless motor, adjustable shoe plate, Light, joist hanger. but for the price i got it at that is fine. the 4 position blade is great. after i bought this saw i used it to take down a big metal shed in 90+ degree weather and this saw didn't skip a beat.

Good sawzall. I like the feature of being able to turn the head instead of the whole tool.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Matt I'm an amateur
I'm a total amateur and bought this product to help me do some very basic things. I was very happy with how easy it was to insert the blade, operate the tool, and perform my task with speed and quality.
It's fairly heavy, but not to the point that I need to take breaks because of how heavy it is.
The one thing that I'm not totally sure about is that the tool does get warm after continued use. This may not be an issue, though for an amateur, it was something that I was conscious of and concerned about.
