Customer Questions & Answers

Replace blades

Asked by: Tony
The saw takes the standard reciprocating saw blades. Many options available at home depot. To replace the blade pull up on the yellow tab where the blade attaches and pull the blade out. To insert the new blade lift up the tab and insert the new blade. There are multiple locations to insert the blade so pick the one that works best with the angle you plan to use the saw.

Customer Reviews

10 Amp Reciprocating Saw is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 88.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very powerful and well designed. I am redoing a house and needed a good reciprocating saw. I was disappointed in the cost of most and the poor design. I found this one on sale and it was the best of the lot. We I got it I had to take it back to the shop as I couldn't get the blade to stay in. The guy in the tool section took me to another that was on the shelf and it worked just fine. We messed with it for a little while, sprayed a little wd40 into the mechanism we got it going and it's been fine if a bit stiff. One thing that was surprising is how well it does trimming trees. When my chainsaw gave it up for the day, I started using my DeWalt. It really shocked my crew at how quick it chopped through branches as big as my knee! And it did it for hours without complaint.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from tough I've had mine since 2005 and used all the time for everything from rough framing to demolition to cutting down trees. The saw is powerful enough, doesn't bog down except when I'm pushing it WAY too hard. The quick change key is sloppy and can only be used when the arbor is retracted into the saw. Not that big of a deal but annoying, and the chuck doesn't hold blades well anymore and is hard to cut straight with, so I mainly use my saw for yardwork and demolition, pretty much where I can afford a sloppy cut. Plunge cuts are pretty much out of the question anymore, but the occasional square hole in plywood sheeting still works. The sloppiness happened years ago and I told myself I'd toss it when it broke, but the chuck still works well enough and the saw itself is as powerful as ever even though I've ran it for hours straight, dragged it through dirt and mud, and packed with enough dirt and debris to choke a horse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dewalt Resiprocating Saw My husband loved this exact saw for his birthday this past August. I was browsing for the perfect gift here on the Home Depot website and came across this Dewalt Reciprocating Saw and had to get it for his birthday. Make matters awhole lot better they were only $89 dollars. It was awhole new experience with this saw we are renovating our house and it was so much easier taking out the old nails by just sawing it and taking off the drywalland putting on a new one. Even with plumbing sawing the pipes. It was like a miracle! never saw anything like it! thanks to this website i found my husband a great gift. i recommend this powertool for everyone!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It is what it is Doesn't have alot of power, vibrates alot, the shoe doesn't adjust, and the front gets pretty hot after a few minutes use. But then again it's half the price of a milwaukee sawzall, and it does essentially the same thing. This is the type of tool you could use, abuse, and then throw away without guilt. It works well, but it doesn't delight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solved my problem! I'm flipping my deck boards over because the previous owner painted them and they are horrible. Some of the boards are fastened with screws that are impossible to remove. This saw has already paid for itself! It zips through the nails and is easy to handle. The 4-way blade holder allows me to cut screws in some really close places. I'm very pleased.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Saw This Dewalt reciprocating saw is a great tool for the price. I was considering purchasing a slightly cheaper saw but there are some unique features on this model that can't be matched. The DW304PK has come in very handy and is a great tool to have around. I didn't consider a cordless model because I wanted the power and consistency of a cordless tool as well as the light weight. Power may not be an issue with the 24V models but I didn't want to pay 4x the price of this The saw blades are easily replaced with a quick release mechanism. Just pull the tab and pull the blade out. The saw blade can also be positioned in 4 different ways to make it easier to get into tight spots. For instance if you need to get flush up against a wall, you can position the blade so that it is closer to the edge of the shoe. You can also turn the blade around so that if you're cutting down a wall, the trigger will be facing away from the floor, making it easier to cut all the way down to the floor. The tool feels comfortable to hold no matter what position the blade is in. For people that have used traditional recip. saws, this may not seem like a big deal since if you use a longer blade you can flex it to get it to fit. This takes a bit more finesse and in the end you tend to deform the blade a bit. The shoe is a bit different from traditional reciprocating saws as it is fixed instead of pivoting. I'm not sure if it is better or worse but I had no problems with this shoe. The fixed shoe might be slightly better for making plunge cuts when the blade is in the normal position. When the blade is in a different position you can't really use the shoe to pivot the blade into the material but it is not difficult to freehand it. Or just switch the blade around after making the plunge cut since changing the position of the blade is quick and easy. The motor seems very powerful and I haven't had any problems getting through thick nails and screws, studs and single or dual layers of plywood. The motor never struggled, even when the blade was getting dull, though changing blades frequently makes things faster, easier and safer no matter what saw you are using. Vibration is good for this price range and the variable control switch operation is very smooth and gives great control. The stroke length and RPM are similar to the higher priced models. Higher priced saws may offer orbital cutting action to increase cutting speed, larger amped motor if you're cutting into block or steel more, or a counterbalance to reduce vibration. Those features weren't worth the price for me, for others they might be. I was also impressed by the quality of the case. It is very durable, the hinges operate smoothly and the latches hold the case securely closed. There is also plenty of room for storage of blades. The quality of the case was worth the slight increase of price over a cheaper saw. This is a great value with plenty of power. A counter balance would have been nice but not critical.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best value reciprocating saw I have normally avoided Dewalt due to vastly overinflated prices for them, but this saw was not (overinflated that is). It was a very good price for a good saw. I debated between this and the rXXXX and the RXXXXX, I finally chose this one as was very glad I did. It is heavy but has more power and longer stroke than either the rxxxx or Rxxxxx. When I first used it I was shocked at how powerfull and easy it was to use and maneuver. The handles and grips are perfect, and easy to maneuver. This is important since it has much more power than the rXXXX and cuts much faster and smoother. I had a small tree trunk to cut that I had unsuccessfully tried to cut with my 18v rXXXX saw and all my batterys would go dead before I could make more than a few inches into the trunk. I hit it with this saw and BOY.. what a difference, It sliced through that tree stump like a hot knife through butter. (I like butter..). The price was the best value for the money and the almost perfect 5 star ratings settled it for me. I am very glad I bought this. If you want the best value in a recip saw, buy this one. It's plenty for virtually all users, and the price is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it This saw does the job right out of the box. Currently I have been restoring a vehicle and it makes short work of the what tasks I have put it to. The only draw back is more of a user hint, watch the speed, since it has no variable speed limiter except finger pull, I quickly burnt out a few blades before I gained some skill and understanding. I have only had it about a month but I would recommend this saw to anyone.
