The string frayed and clogged the line on the first use only a foot in. Once we cleared it, it only continued to do the same thing making it practically unusable. It's being returned tomorrow.

Decided to invest in a new chalk line after breaking the handle on a Stanley I've had for 15 years and figured a Dewalt would last forever- especially with a metal reel handle. The line is very difficult to strech out and wind back. I assumed it had to be user error, perhaps too much chalk in the bay. I dumped most of it out, which helped slightly. During the 4th pull, of about 10ft, it proceeded to jam internally, like a cheap fishing rod. This thing is going BACK - disappointed. (Wish i had read the reviews before purchasing impulsively)

The dewalt chalk box is superbly designed. The lazer straight lines and fast effortless retrieval rate make this silver and yellow beauty a joy to use. This will make a great stocking stuffers for sure.

Worked as expected, red is everlasting, does not come off easily. My kid got ahold of it and chalk is still all over the front porch.

Its okay it will do the job just wished the chalk was a little darker and the string gets stuck reeling it back in some of the time.

It seems that Dewalt will slap its bright yellow logo on anything these days. The stopper that's supposed to keep the chalk in becomes dislodged very easily. The string does not go in or out smoothly at all. The stopper is a very poor design and even if the string did go in and out easily, this stopper would break within a day or two of usage. I can't imagine using this in any kind of production environment. What a waste of time.
