The 14.4 XR no longer holds a charge. (can it be refurbed?) Is the XRP an upgraded capacity unit or is it also a different size as well? Drill works fine ... if I could find another couple of batteries.

Answer:
I don't think so , the connections for the case will not match up. I don't see where Home Depot carries a battery except for the 18v . EBay has lots to offer Google Ryobi 14.4 volts batteries HD will lead you to 18 volt batteries there are a few battery places that can also help..

Answer:
The dc9091 is the newer version of the Dw9091. The newer battery has a better release latch that is indented deeper. You won't be able to accidentally hit it and have the battery fall off.

14.4-Volt XRP Ni-Cad Rechargeable Battery is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Over priced Do you really need to charge so much for a battery from older technology. The older 14.4 tools always worked well yet the industry is forcing tradesmen to upgrade to newer units when it's only the batteries which are failing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Out of date product! I did not know when I bought this battery that it was that old and would not be carried anymore. If I had known I would have bought a new 18 v drill.
Date published: 2016-09-27
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not enough information Advertising of this product claims 40% additional capacity, but does not disclose the actual capacity. This prevents comparison with other 14.4VDC batteries, including DeWalts own pre-XRP batteries, the batteries sold by others, and capacities found in 18VDC systems. Batteries have always been rated in amp-hours, the information is available from DeWalt's own tests, so why not include it? Do they think we will not understand it? Is it a parameter that is unfavorable?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Product is too expensive Need this battery to run my drill but the cost is backbreaking. Batteries shouldn't have to cost this much!
Date published: 2012-07-31
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Over Priced Battery !!!! The 14.4 volt XRP ni-cad rechargeable battery is great. Really does the job, its strong, light weight, But there is one problem, it cost more than if you were to go out an buy the whole unit again, you might as well throw the original drill out and get a new one..Is there any way you can concentrate on bringing down the price on the new battery, not 76.00, Well thank you for letting me vent my feelings. Dennis.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Battery cost is to much Works great but you almost need to think about buying a new drill/driver instead of just the battery. The cost of one battery seems to high.
Date published: 2013-10-24
Rated 1 out of 5 by from battery You would think for the money it would last a long time. Mine only lasted 6 months, and I only used it a few times. Don't waste your money!
Date published: 2013-07-01
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Re charge The battery though expensive was well worth it. After over 10 years in service used daily the old battery wouldn't hold a charge . This drill has outlasted several much newer and advanced DeWalt drills and batteries. I took the plunge to replace the battery. The new battery has performed out of the package . After charging to full it's great to have the power my drill was designed for. I guess buying the XPR level is worth the extra expence. When you depend on your tools to perform a little extra money is worth it.
