I am a novice woodworker and purchased this saw for hobby uses after exhaustive research . Saw is powerful for my minimal needs. Portability is very useful. Assembly instruction was satisfactory but not flawless. As numerous others have stated, miter gage is disgraceful and should be an embarrassment for DeWalt......apparently known for high quality power equipment. I was unable to achieve straight crosscuts. My real frustration was the total absence of DeWalt brand accessory products to enhance the basic saw. As I searched the web/called local retailers/scoured the DeWalt webpage, the universal conclusion is DEWALT HAS NO ACCESSORIES, therefore, buy aftermarket products. I purchased an Incra miter gage which greatly improves cut accuracy. Additionally, trying to connect a dust collector hose to the oddball port dimension and blade guard was unbelievably complicated with final connection accomplished with a rubber plumbing reducing collar. Conclusion: This is a decent saw.....and that is all!

I put a new blade on it so I can't comment on the one that comes with it. Have only used it over one weekend but no problems what soever. This one accepts Dado blades which is something I wanted as an option down the road. I used it to rip some 14' planks of oak and it went through them like butter. If you're on the border of getting this saw or one of their cheaper saws without the stand, get this one! It's portable and although kind of heavy, it is pretty easy to move around and out of the way when not using it. I like that it doesn't take up any space on my work bench. Oh, did I say the stand was rock solid?! Yes I did!

I am somewhat handicapped ( multiple surgeries on my knees and leg) and even so I was able to set this up on my own, if I can do it so can you. I have not used it much so how will it stand up? only time will tell, but it is a Dewalt so my guess is many years. Yes I would recommend this to my friends, family and any one else.

If you're looking for a "job site" / portable table saw, I think this might be the best available. I had done much research--perhaps too much to still stake a claim to sanity--and it came down to the DeWalt and the Ridgid. I liked the Ridgid's slightly bigger table, slightly more power (according to Pro Tool Reviews), and 3.5 inch depth of cut, but the DeWalt can take an 8-inch dado set (opposed to only 6 inch for the Ridgid), the stand is sturdier, and, most importantly, the rack-and-pinion fence is a wonderful thing to have in a job site table saw (no more banging the fence with your knuckles), and a fence I was already familiar with, having used the smaller 7480 model on numerous occasions. I had read many fine reviews of the Bosch, and also of its new Skil Saw cousin, but the fence on both is surprisingly--okay, shockingly--flimsy and poorly designed. So I decided to go with the big De Walt--particularly when the price dropped to $499. The $80 you save can go for a good Freud or CMT blade, though the supplied blade is at least serviceable. This is an excellent saw--for its intended purposes. This is not a $3000 cabinet saw. I don't know why some reviewers complain that their 60-pound $500 saw doesn't perform like a 400-pound $3000 saw. Is the table perfectly flat? No, but then again the table isn't cast iron. Is it close enough to perfect (1/32nd of an inch)? Yes. I should note that I have no special allegiance to DeWalt or to any particular tool manufacturer. All of the major companies (De Walt, Makita, Milwaukee, etc.) have some great tools and some mediocre tools, but I've been very happy with my DeWalt 780 miter saw (with heavy duty 723 stand) and now with this 7491 table saw. They make a good team on the job site--though I wish that both would come with a longer cord. A 6-foot cord strikes me as merely perfunctory--you gotta have a cord, so here it is. I'd like to see a 12-foot cord on both. Since you can only run a 50-foot extension cord (12 gauge), the difference between 56 and 62 feet is greater than it seems. Easy to assemble, intelligently designed, user-friendly, with plenty of power, and with a solid stand and wheels that won't go flat, this is a nice little saw. At some point I will have a big long-rail cabinet saw, but I won't get rid of this--its functionality means it will always have a use, either on site or in the shop. For those of you who are concerned, DeWalt did finally listen to all the complaints and replaced their cheap plastic miter gauge with a heavier metal one. It's okay, but if you're serious about cross-cutting on this or any table saw, you'll make a cross-cut sled and/or get a good aftermarket miter gauge, such as an Incra. Finally, a note to Home Depot: You delivered the box and left it in front of the garage. Yes, the garage is not right on the road (it's a hundred feet away), and this is not a high-crime neighborhood, but leaving a large, bright yellow box in an empty driveway within view of the street with "DeWalt table saw" written on it, is an invitation to theft. How about some kind of wrap on it to conceal the nature of its contents? Or leaving it in the nearby woodshed, which is concealed from view?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great compact saw. I just unboxed my saw and was amazed at how easy it was to assemble with the stand. When not in use, everything has a nice secure spot under the saw so that it can be folded up and put away nicely. I love how almost dead accurate it is right out of the box. One con I've heard about this saw, from other reviews, is that the miter gauge is a cheap plastic one. I don't know if I won the golden ticket one or not but mine came with a nice steel one. Maybe DeWalt recently changed that aspect. I don't know if I can find a con about this saw now.

We have several large 3 phase PowerMatic cabinet saws at the shop for our detailed work, but we've always struggled with a nice portable saw for our joist installs. We've tried multiple brands and they all see under engineered and lacking in quality and accuracy. THEN we tried this saw. No regrets. It has sufficient power and as long as you make the necessary adjustments and square everything up, it does not bind like a few people mentioned in their reviews. Once you set the distance on the fence it seems to remain fairly accurate for cutting off the saws tape guide. I've been a professional woodworker for over 35 years, take it from me, If you regret buying this, your just plain out and right doing something wrong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the extra cost The saw and the stand work great. I use this in my garage and backyard and having the portable stand makes using it easy. I like that it folds up with the saw on it to save space in the garage when I'm not using it. I normally keep it set up for ease of use. Note: Home Depot sells a separate dado plate for the saw but it is not the correct size for the saw. If you want to use a dado blade you can buy the dewalt plate that fits this saw online. Home Depot did not carry this plate at the time this review was written. Overall the saw cuts great, the supports and guides are square and align easily. My miter guide guide that came with the saw was metal. Some other reviews noted theirs was plastic so either dewalt changed it to metal or they purchased a slightly different saw model.

Even cabinet saws under 600 do not compare; IMO. Easy to assemble; strong ;stable stand and roll bar constructed saw easy to adjust and powerful at 15 amps. The type 2 miter made it even better. The blade says 90 degree going up and down which is weak point with many of these saws and hybrid type from weak trunions. Too bad all have raised price from 499 all offered not long ago I am not a total fan of DeWalt but they got this right.
