It rarely goes below p freezing here, but it is possible. Also, are there any particular safety or maintenance things I should do to help preserve saw and cart, if leaving in garage unused for extended time periods?

Sorry for easy questions. I am new to woodworking, and this is a big purchase for me.

The temperature swings have never seemed to impact my tools, if you are concerned about it then maybe you could find a place to park it inside when it is being stored long term. Bill,
I live by the beach in SoCal and my garage doesn't have HVAC either, while it never gets that hot or cold here I still have the ocean air to deal with and I haven't experienced any problems. This saw is well built and the table top isn't made of steel like the ones from woodshop so you don't have to worry about it. The frame of the saw and the carrier is all powder coated with a thick covering of black paint so if it doesn't get scratched it shouldn't rust. You might want to spray a mist of WD40 or something like it on the other parts of the saw from time to time.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Expensive boat anchor Dunno how it works as a saw. I do know the table top arrived bowed - approx. 1/16th" at one side and ~1/32nd" at the other. The machine is thus completely useless except as an expensive boat anchor. The point of buying an expensive table saw was to get a better cut than my cheap Ryobi table saw. This is nowhere near as good as my cheap saw. 'Made in the USA from global parts' apparently means 'Make parts in the same poor quality Chinese sweatshop as the machines that are Made in China, ship to the USA, do no QC on said parts, assemble in the US, ship out with no QC on finished product'. If this is what is meant by 'American Pride' it is no wonder our manufacturing industries are on their last legs. The miter gauge is worthless, cheap rubbish. The table top is very, very easily scratched. Why on earth would Dewalt send out a product that is not remotely fit for purpose? Google it - I'm by far the only one to get an undulating table top. Most are cupped, mine is bowed. None are worth the chewing gum on the bottom of your shoe. I have three other Dewalt tools. There won't be a fourth after buying this extremely expensive boat anchor. Going back to my far, far superior cheap table saw. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere as apparently you pay an awful lot for the yellow Dewalt paint job and still get garbage that any self respecting manufacturer wouldn't let out the door. If you ignore my advice, photograph the packaging as you unpack (it is a nightmare to pack everything back into the box) so you'll know how to put it back together when you return it (and return it you will!). Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Not just a jobsite table saw I didn't have the room or the cash to purchase a cabinet table saw, but the Dewalt DWE7491RS is the next best thing. I cut a 1/8" strip off of a 3 foot board and it was dead straight. This saw has plenty of power and the stand is very sturdy, yet easy to fold and store. July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent hardware; set up instructions wanting Bought on-line and absolutely no problems with a timely delivery. Well packaged and in excellent shape when opened. Biggest problem with set up are the teensy illustrations. Surely they could invest in larger size paper. If this is first table saw must proceed very very slowly to get it right. But saw cuts well, has adequate power, well made. Worth the effort in getting it set up. October 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Great saw. more than whats needed for projects around the house! Perfect setup and easy to use. October 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I should have bought this years ago I have only had this saw for just under 3 months now, I usually don't like to jump the gun and write a review for something until I have been able to use the product for around a year, how ever this is one thing that was put through the paces really quick and really hard in my shop since it is probably my most important piece of machinery in the shop and my money maker. This saw is so easy to assemble and make the fence, bevel and blade adjustments my friends 10 year old daughter could do it, I read every review on this saw I could find anywhere and I did not have one issue that other people complained about, my top is perfectly flat with no blemishes at all, the stand is sturdy, the stock blade is actually decent, my miter Gage was metal but I use an aftermarket one anyway so no big deal for me. If you are looking for the dado plate insert for this saw this is the one you want DWE7402DI. I have a very small work area in my shop this folds up nice and stores out of the way when not in use but when it's in use this will work and cut as good as any full size cabinet saw. The rack and pinion style fence is awesome and very precise. If your professional reputation is based on your end results, then you should be using this saw. I'm not some guy with a week or 2 of experience, I'm not a weekend warrior or avid do it yourselfer, I am not some guy sitting here writing a review saying how I haven't used the saw yet but it looks nice and like a quality machine so here's my 5 start rating now go buy one just because, I am professional of 20 years who has learned a lot of lessons the hard way and wished back in the day there was the internet to read reviews on, you can use after market accessories like a tenoning jig, sled, miter gage, etc with this saw and I will tell you with the fence system on this saw it speeds up the process and has improved my end results dramatically. October 18, 2016
