Bought this saw to cut up old oak floor boards between the joists for tear out in the house restoration. The saw is very good. If you are planning to use this saw for precession cutting 45 and 22.5 then look else where. It's fine for ripping plywood or cutting old floor boards. Also very good at cutting a straight line with a proper straight edge but takes too much time fiddling around with the straight edge. I had to trim some 5.5in baseboards to 4 is some tricky places. It did the job very well. The blade it comes with is fine too. No, the blade may not be the top of the line but it will do the job well as long as you're not looking for super clean furniture requirement cuts.
If I was given a choice to have just one saw in my arsenal, (besides table saw) I definitely would take circular saw.
People say it doesn't stop fast enough with this electric brake...really? It's a SAW! Always be fully conscious of what you are doing. You need your hips and fingers.

This saw is bit heavier than normal saw.But it cuts wood like butter.Making a straight cut easier than normal saw.wish they added a laser guide.

Bought this to replace an old heavy saw from the 80s. This was a great upgrade as it was lighter and had an electric brake. Also the blade tool located on the saw was a nice detail as I have a tendency to misplace things like that when I need it most. My only negative feedback was the location of the motor. It was very low compared to my old saw and I had to adjust the shoe fully to use a wood guide when cutting a straight line. It worked for what I needed when I figured it out. Great saw, I would recommend it.

I bought this saw specifically for the electric brake feature.
In short it does not brake the blade as you might expect.
It slows the blade down somewhat as compered to saw with no brake, but it does not stop the blade "instantly" as I expect.
I would say this is more a drag brake than a stopping brake. It takes about two or three seconds for the blade to stop.
I have used blade brake miter saws where the blade stops within about one or two revolutions.
For technical people; when I read "electric brake" I expect a "plugging" relay system where the motor temporarily reverses (for a fraction of a second) to come to a dead stop. This is more like soft slow down...

Hasn't had a lot of use on it yet, but from what I have used it for it has worked great. Ver y happy with my purchase so far.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sanjay Excellent Saw Overall
(First Off: Buy a blue [can't say brand name] 7 ¼" 24T blade where the teeth are "V" shaped, it will cut through any wood in any direction like a hot knife through butter. I speak from experience as other blades would stall in the wood).
Pro's: Durable, does the job well with the right blade, love the case it came with
Con's: The motor can get in the way of the guide if your guide is more than about .5" thick and the saw is all the way down; cord can get in the way if the saw is all the way down. Both con's can be remedied by positioning saw higher.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sean Inexpensive track saw!
This is a nifty circular saw. The optional vacuum hose adapter, built-in blower, weight, and electric brake were the main features I was looking for. My first project was to rip a track for the saw. Now, with an extra fine blade and a couple clamps, I have an inexpensive track saw with dust collection! The only minor modifications were a piece of duct tape on the hose adapter for better dust collection and an added spacer on the glide adjuster to keep the motor off the rail and allow cleaner plunge cuts.

Note: this review is my "first impressions" and concerns the description of the product advertised, not its use. I purchased this saw today, driving an hour to the nearest HD store that had it in stock. SKU numbers match...but, after I arrived home and opened the carton, I found that the base plate on the saw I bought looks nothing like the one pictured (I suspect made from a different material), and it does not come with a kit box, but rather the bag as shown with the saw without the brake (model 575S). The box was the draw for me, as my other saws live in a large tool chest, so getting the bag was a bit of a disappointment. I'll be using the saw in the next few days, so I will update my review then.
