Customer Reviews

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 32 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Wormdrive Saw on the Market I have used them all and the Dewalt is the best hands down. Bought 1 for each framing crew member and the saw performs flawlessly. August 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice saw This is a very heavy saw. Not for weak people to handle. Well built. Came with oil in it. Never bogged down in the oak I was cutting. I used a high-toothed carbide blade in it, and it made an excellent and splinter free cut in plywood for a project. So far an excellent saw. Home depot often has not allowed my reviews to post for silly stupid reasons. But here goes another effort on my part to help others. Hope I'm not blocked. Note: to use a 7 1/4" blade, you must knock out the rectangle (star) in the middle. This will make your saws only useful for these types of tools that require the knockout knocked out. Just a warning. Can't use it really on another saw unless you have the adapter for it. Cheap at Harbor though. January 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome Saw! I bought this saw years ago. still works like a champ. Highly recommended must have Man Saw. January 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good saw Always wanted a worm drive saw. Was very frustrated with older circular saw that would not cut straight thru plywood, this one does. Weight is fine and start-up torque is very manageable. December 29, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Great until it breaks Doing some framing work and needed the power and performance of a worm-drive saw, as I needed to make non-through cuts in extremely hard wood beams that had nearly stalled out my Milwaukee sidewinder. Another reason I was in the market for this kind of saw was to replace my old Black and Decker 3051 and Rockwell 568 that had both died not too long ago. None of the parts that I needed were available and both models were out of production. After trying out many worm-drive saws, I settled on the DWS535. This saw seemed to fit the bill for the price. Additionally, the dual-port rip fence seemed to be an excellent addition to this saw, as the standard "rip fences" that come with many saws weren't very practical (they're more of a "gauge" than a "fence"). I unboxed this saw, put it together, and started cutting. This saw has average raw power, not too exceptional, but not underpowered. The dual-port rip guide is worth its high price tag; it never flexes, bends, or does anything that would make one's cuts not straight. Suddenly, upon cutting 11 feet (3.35 meters) along a 6x12 beam the motor catches fire. I have to dump an ocean of water onto the saw to stop it. Then I tear it apart and look into the matter. Of course the motor is what you would expect, a Dewalt brand AC/DC series-wound universal motor. Anyway, I open it up and the first thing I find is that the stator windings are permanently 2-part-epoxied into the motor housing. THAT'S JUST NOT VERY SMART AT ALL. That aside, the motor has "best" brand bearings (ever heard of those? I sure haven't...) and so does the blade shaft. I found that both seals in the rear bearing blew out. This caused the air that the motor draws in via the cooling fan to suck in the grease for the rear bearing. Then the sparks created by the rapid switching and arcing of the brushes and commutator caught that grease on fire. So the rear bearing was the issue. Well, or so I thought. I pulled the original bearing off and tried to replace it with an identical one from a local warehouse. It was a massive pain in the rear to put on, and for good reason. "Why was it so hard," you ask?? Well, it turns out that the motor shaft was machined incorrectly, causing literally every properly-sized bearing I installed on it to end in horrible shape, so I used a micrometer to measure the rear end of the shaft because I thought it was out of round, AND (get this) IT IS OBLONG AS ALL HECK. The reason for the premature bearing failure in the first place was due to vibration caused by poor machining of the motor shaft and/or motor rotor as a whole. I threw this saw in the dumpster and purchased the Makita 5377MG and Skilsaw SPT77WML and so far they are far superior to the Dewalt. This tool lasted me 331 seconds and then died. I wouldn't recommend it to even my worst enemy. If you are a professional, consider another brand. January 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Heavier than advertised I ordered this so after buying the rigid version that was extremely heavy, the specs on Home Depot's web page say it weighs 13 pounds immediately upon receiving it, it was apparent to me that it was more than 13 pounds before even opening it I weighed the box and was 16 pounds so I did not open the saw, returned it and kept my rigid that weighed the same October 6, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quality and Craftsmanship I'm a lifelong user of Dewalt products so my review may sound a bit prejudicial. But there is a good reason Iam and it's because Dewalt delivers the best power and control of the day. Trust in this saw folks, pay a bit more and get the best. No matter whether you are a weekend handy-person or a true craftsman ... This is the saw for you... September 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Saw Dewalt has done an amazing job with this saw. The 15 amp motor delivers plenty of power and doesn't really "kick start." It is also pretty quiet. It comes with a blade and a wrench and is pre-oiled. Right out of the box it, looks great and has excellent quality, but more importantly, it cuts through wood like butter. The depth and bevel adjustments are easy to read and adjust. I've used other saws like Skil and Milwaukee, and it was definitely lighter and more efficient than all of them. It is a excellent saw definitely would recommend it. The only downside with this saw is that you have to special order a rip guide that is around $50. August 13, 2013
