Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Unit, limited use, no bat/chgr, would avoid prchs if not necessary. Pros: Very nice unit, powerful, performed as expected. Cons: Heavy, limited uses, did not come with battery or charger. I could justify purchasing this limited use item if it came with a battery and charger to bolster my existing tools, but it does not. It is too heavy & expensive for regular use and is basically a one trick pony. It performs its function well but did heat up very quickly. I would only recommend buying if either you used it every day, or, it included a battery and charger. Pneumatic versions are much more versatile, affordable, and lighter to work with. Great Tool, Poor Value. January 2, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Solid Tool Being a pipefitter I put together a lot of bolts. I've been through a few of these 1/2" impact drivers from Dewalt and they hold up well. Keep an extra battery charged though March 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Super Strong Impact Tool This thing has exceptional power to break nuts and bolts loose. A Plus to any tool box. April 23, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by If you need it, get it. You wont be sorry. I have owned this for about 3 years. I paid about $320. This thing is perfect for when you need an impact on the go or on the side of the road changing a tire. A few cons; 1. Its top heavy even with a battery on, therefor cant be trusted to stand on its own without falling. This is how the first one broke within a month of purchase and had to get a replacement. 2. The socket retainer pin is really, really good at its job. To the point of imperfection. You cant get the socket off when you are done unless you use a pick, punch, screwdriver, etc to push the pin down and pull the socket off. This makes quick changes impossible. I even tried grinding the pin down a little so the socket could still be retained but pull off easier to no avail. 3. Did I mention, its HEAVY. 4. The 300 ft.-lb. rating may be over-reaching. Even with a full battery. 5. Batteries drain quickly and affect power output. Other than these seemingly minor imperfections its great. It does so much without being hooked to a hose or cord. TAKE NOTE DEWALT, if these cons are fixed in a newer model with the same power output or better I would buy it.Well, just make it lighter and more compact and I will be on my way to get a new one. 5 stars because I couldnt live without it now. Well, I could but in a very depressed state. May 9, 2012
