Hi Oscar, you have some options with an impact driver. You can purchase rapid load drill bits, which allow you to snap the bit into the impact driver chuck.
You can also purchase a drill chuck that you can snap into the impact, allowing you to use standard round and flat shank drill bits. You also can purchase a socket adapter, for driving large head bolts. Take a look at the links Read More

Answer:
Impact drivers are designed for screws and smaller lag bolts. Although it has basically the same operational value of a impact wrench they still are different. If a impact wrench is rated at 500 ft lbs it doesn't mean it can lay down that much force on any size bolt. For example a impact wrench is rated at 500 ft lbs on a 9/16 inch bolt. If you tighten a 3/4 inch bolt with the 500 ft lb impact wrench it Read More

If you tighten a 3/4 inch bolt with the 500 ft lb impact wrench it will not be able to tighten a 3/4 inch bolt at 500 ft lbs. Use a cordless impact wrench rated at least 150 ft lbs for lug nits and use impact drivers for screws and heavy deck fastening. Do not use torx bits on impact wrenches to drive deck screws you will snap them off. Read Less

Answer:
No. An impact wrench is much heavier and can accommodate the required 1/2" drive sockets.

Answer:
This is not designed for lug nuts and I doubt it could be depended on to torque the nuts adequately. Get a 1/2" impact wrench or just use the wrench that came with your car.

The older and larger Dewalt 18 volt packs work. That is the reason I selected the 18V driver. I already had the battery packs for my existing drill and light.

Yes. These are the older style tools that take the 18 volt batteries. These won't fit the newer 20 volt batteries.

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 37 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by OK for drilling - not driving screws Purchased this just for driving screws. Very difficult to use. RPM's too high. Poor trigger control of speed caused bit to jump. Inadequate low end torque caused tool to stall then lurch. Will get something with lower RPM. April 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good tool (the second time) I bought the 18v Dewalt Impact Driver because it was small enough to get into places I couldn't get into with my Dewalt cordless drill. It performed fine for a few weeks and then the variable speed feature stopped working. That made it useless for driving pocket screws. The driver was never dropped or abused. I was pleased that Home Depot exchanged it without question, and I am now starting to use my second one. I have a shop full of Dewalt tools and have never had a single problem with any of them. I hope this failure was a fluke and not a sign of quality decline. February 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 18 volt impact driver Great drill lots of power use it mainly to drive large bolts with no problems March 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rugged it's been dropped from 4 flights of staging slid off many roofs battery life leaves a little to be desired the original bigger 18v batteries that Dewalt used on the first generation of their impact drivers are longer lasting but the fast charger hasn't left me idle yet December 9, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent Tool For non-construction workers, this is a great tool. It made my job go much faster around the house. Charges quickly. Smooth. Fun! March 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very well made, powerful tool. I bought this tool to add to DeWalt Batteries and charger that I already owned. It is sturdy and well made December 29, 2015
