Any Dewalt XRP 18 volt battery will work. Black, yellow, or black / yellow, either NiCad or Lithium XRP. The only thing you have to do is have the matching charger for the batteries. Lithium for lithium batteries, etc. The lithium chargers are all yellow, and are not interchangeable with the Nicads. However, the tool accepts both just fine. It will run faster and longer on the Lithiums. This is the case Read More

Hi Mike, according to the product overview web page, the model of battery and charger you ask about will not work.
Take a look at the web product page, where it says product overview at the bottom. You will see the batteries and chargers that will work with the saw.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Works as expected and no issues 18v drill battery works June 8, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Useful Battery Powered Saw I bought the saw with no batteries or charger hoping to use the battery from one of my drills in the saw. The team at HD said I could use any 18V battery. Not quite right. It needed a LIthium battery to fit properly in the saw. Luckily I have all kinds of Dewalt drills and batteries. Overall the saw works well. The battery has good life for light uses. I would go with a wired saw for heavy continous cutting needs but for a few cuts in the field this is very good. It also fits nicely in an orange Homer tool box if you take the battery off. January 19, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good saw. Very powerful and battery power lasts a long time. Would definitely recommend and buy again. December 15, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Weak Point in Saw Having been a pipefitter/plumber for 40+ years, I've used many brands of reciprocating saws, corded and cordless. This is a good saw, with one exception. The saw case is made up of pieces, assembled with screws into tapped plastic screw holes. Recently I was in trench, cutting out tree roots to access water line. The saw snapped in half at assembly point; unable to repair. When a battery operated reciprocating saw is needed, this works well, but exercise caution and do not bear down on tool too much; it may break. October 19, 2015
