Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JR very nice combo set, does what I need it to do
Bought this instead of the 20v because I can re-use my existing collection of 18V batteries and charger. Hammer drill is very useful, drill is more than adequate for my needs. 18v has plenty of power and battery life.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SLCDIY Go for Li-ion
Just had my old niCad batteries die and of course for $120 you might as well buy new tools. Would go for 20v but the trouble is my finish nailer, receip saw, and circ saw all take 18v. So I'm stuck but at least I can get the better battery type. So for the charge time, weight, and (hopefully) shelf life, I am happy to have the option to upgrade to lithium.

Had another name brand cordless drill that finally made its way to that big toolbox in the sky. Found this combo and was very impressed with the price. DeWalt has alway been a brand that demands respect so I decided to get the drill and the impact was just an extra. I have used the drill a dozen times in the month that I have owned it. I am extremely impressed with the life of the Li-ion battery. The suprise for me was the impact. I have used it more than I would ever imagine. It is perfect for drilling holes through any material. For me it is a no-brainer, this is a must buy for any person weather it be contractor or just the weekend home repair.

I purchased this kit about a month and a half ago and have used it on a daily basis for my job as a commercial glazer, installing storefront window frames. I use the 1/4 inch impact to drive some very large screws and haven't found anything that gives it any problems. The drill is a bonus in this kit. It is a standard drill and works well for drilling holes, even with a large multi bit. I have only one complaint, and that is the price of spare batteries. It will be more cost effective to buy another kit than to buy spare batteries. I only hope they will put a reasonable price on the batteries.

All my Dewalt tools are 18 volt ni cad, and the tools work great! I needed to replace a bunch of wore out batteries and found the cost excessive. I got two 18 volt lith ion kits for around 400.00 (both on sale) that netted me 4 new tools and 4 new batteries. Donated the old tools to Goodwill.
Once charged these things are AWESOME !!! They are more powerful and like others have observed last way longer than the old set. Also all the batteries are compatable with my least used Dewalt tools so it's a plus all around.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Kfustud Good Set Typical DeWalt
This is a good set for a drill and driver. The Impact Driver is excellent for most tasks that don't need lots of finesse and if you haven't used one you should definitely look into them. You could easily buy a drill that costs as much as this kit so for value this is a good move.
I work with roofs and find this set is great for drilling into metal decks and for just hanging objects.
I went with DeWalt over Makita simply because of my familiarity with the brand. Most jobs I have had used DeWalt drills and I stuck with what I knew and what others around me knew. Top notch case too.
Doesn't come with drills or driver bits which is fine. I am a little annoyed with the DeWalt set I bought because it is too tight but other than that no complaints.
If you don't buy this set consider the similar Makita set.

This is a nice set if your a Diy'er doing small stuff around the house. The impact driver works very well, I could drive 3 inch screws through 2x4's with no problem. The drill/driver however had trouble driving 1 5/8" screws through sheetrock into wood studs. This set is okay to use around the house but not for doing anything heavy duty. For the price they charge for this set I would buy makita or a set that comes with the 3.0 ah batteries.
