This is the first battery operated circular saw I have purchased and I love the quick availability of using a saw without having to hook up extension cords, etc. I just finished a job where I was cutting paneling, and molding/trim wood. The 18V battery finally gave out as I was finishing the job. I also love the blade break feature but I am not so sure about the location of the safety switch that enables the start switch to engage the blade. At least for me and my hands, it takes a little maneuvering to hit the safety switch and to pull the start switch at the same time. There is no doubt that DEWALT was thinking of safety when they located the safety switch and that's a good thing. Also, it was delivered quickly (just a couple of days). All in all, I love this saw!

I bought this saw to use in the small cabinet shop I have. I wanted a cordless saw as it would eleminate using another extention cord!
This is a great little saw, I use it to cut sheets of plywood material, and it produces accurate saw cuts for what I use it for. I also use it in cabinet installations and it preforms great in that function. Note: if your are using it regularly then an extra battery, although the battery cab be charged in one hour with the charger that came with the saw.
The only thing that bugs me is the safety turn on switch. I think a little more thought should have been given in engineering this feature. I give it a four star for this. Other wise it is a great little circular saw, get one you'll love it.

This cordless CS has a suprising amount of power. I've used it to rip sheets of 3/4 ply and gang cut pressure treated 2x4's without it ever bogging down. The batteries charge in less than an hour and last long enough to get most if not all of your cutting done.

Saw works great. Blades brakes make it very safe. The only thing I would say would make it better would be to have 7 1/4" blades just because they are more available.

I bought this saw as an alternative to using my HD77 to cut wood. Very dissapointed. The saw is not as powerful as it should be (or as the ads say). Also, after a few weeks of not-often use, the safety switch now takes two fingers to push down (it gets clogged with sawdust) which makes it very hard if you need to open the blade guard before starting the saw -- you need three hands.
Would not buy again. The other dewalt tools (1/2" cordless hammer drill, and esp the right-angle drill (*****) ) are fantastic.

This saw is BY NO means a replacement for you corded saw. But for a Cordless Circular Saw this saw does pretty darn good.
I use it mostly for quik fixes around the house. It doesn't slow(bog) down as quikly as I thought it would. It does seem to have plenty of power. I cross cut 2x4s and 2x6s fairly quick. I was surprised with how well it cuts.
I did however give it a few harsh tests. I took a 2x12 that was 20' long and riped it to a 2x6. It did very well and with little bog, however knots seem to be this saws worst enemy. I think it might be the blade it comes with. BTW the blade it comes with is decent, But I do suggest a better quality blade. I have never been a fan of dewalts circular saw blades, they seem to cut poorly. Milwaukee endurance blades make a word of differance on this saw.
