I tried to take it to a DeWalt shop that your web site directed but it was no longer there.

Answer:
The chuck jammed on my older Dewalt drill as well. After too many times of having to 'fix' by using my own wrenches it I thought it best to purchase the 18-volt XRP 1/2 inch hammer drill. It was nice to be able to use all the batteries I was using

Answer:
Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot, Jim. The DW9116 battery charger is no longer available, however the 18-Volt 1-Hour Battery Charger Internet # 100634638 will charge the same batteries and is a replacement. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot.

18-Volt XRP 1/2 in. Cordless Hammer Drill/Driver (Tool-Only) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 54.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replcement of old drill This drill was a replacement for one that was 10 years old and having some problems. A big factor in this purchase was having two batteries that were only 6 months old and this drill did not come with batteries.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great drill I purchased this to replace an older model. I love the ability to set the speed and the type of use. 3 speeds and 21 settings. I haven't used it as a hammer drill but I will say it's powerful. NOTE: this purchase is for the drill only so if you need batteries you'll have to purchase them separately.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Well, Uses the XRP 18V Batteries I bought this to replace it's predecessor, a DC925, which developed a problem: The torque adjusting ring would lockup. My local DeWalt factory store has a flat rate fee of $99.99 to refurbish the old one. For $30 more I bought a new drill/driver which comes with a 3-year warranty. It uses the same 18V XRP batteries that I have and can use the new Li-ion batteries as well. The new-style chuck is an improvement over the one in the DC925, it ratchets when tightening down on a bit. The one in the DC925 would not hold smaller drills tight. The torque and function selectors are separate and the speed selector doesn't tend to lockup like the one on the DC925. The 950 is assembled in Mexico not China. I read where owners complain about Chinese-made DeWalt tools.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dewalt XRP We are a machine shop that use a pile of these drills everywhere in our plant and as a rule, the XRP is the lowest grade of drill / driver that we buy from Dewalt. This particular unit and those equal to or above it, has a durable, higher quality chuck that is able to lock onto hardened drill shanks and stay tight regardless of what fool is using them. And it comes with a larger battery with a semi-large amp hour rating, 2.4AH, I believe. The body is equally strong and can take incredible amounts of abuse time and time again. They last about 2-3 years of daily shop use with absolutely zero care or maintenance from the abusers. If it gets dropped in a tank of oil they let it sit for about a week (sometimes) until the oil drains out, if it falls into a chip tub or machine full of aluminum, brass, steel or stainless chips and some gets in the vent holes, well you point it away from your face and hold it wide open for about 20 seconds to blow all the junk out of it and then go back to using it.. It is a tool of high durability. Enjoy.
