It will mount on a table. You'll need an A mounting plate and you'll have to take the handles off but since it's going to be on the table most of the time that shouldn't be a problem.
You'll need to remove the plate that it comes with and save it and the screws in a Ziploc bag in the original container so you don't misplace them.

Hi Einstixx69, I contacted DeWalt to get you an answer. DeWalt stated , yes this router can mount to a table.
However it does not use universal mounting configuration. It uses DeWalt standards.

Does this router still come with the Hard Case or bag? A friend recently purchased one and it came with a bag. If so, is there any way I can get the Hard Case?

Does this have an LED light?

I'm looking at some different routers and I'm nearly sold on this DeWalt, what will seal the deal is if this has a LED light to light up the bit area so that it's easier to see while working.
I've seen a Bosch MRC23EVSK that has this feature but the unit is nearly $100 more. I read in one review that indicates an LED backlight but I do not see it listed on DeWalts web site or anywhere else.

In feedback, I keep seeing it described as low weight, powerful and low height. Yet in specifications it shows it weighing in at 22.55 lbs one of the heaviest routers I have seen. How can it be the heaviest light weight router made.

I'm pretty sure that is the total weight of the router motor with AC cord, fixed base, plunger base, and both 1/4 and 1/2 inch collets, plus the carrying case. I use the fixed base mode in a router table (one I made myself as an insert in my table saw) so I'm ordinarily not supporting the router weight at all. I've used the plunge mode a few times and it is not light, but not really inconveniently heavy either, since that requires two handed control anyway. The slow start feature eliminates jerking I've experienced with other routers when hand holding it when powering on the tool. Read Less

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 23 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by New to routers, but really like this one Have used this router in both the fixed base (installed in router table) and plunger configurations a number of times for hobby woodworking. So far I have been very pleased with the features and performance of the router used both ways. The soft start is very useful in reducing the start up torque when used in plunger configuration and in both plunger and fixed base to reduce the AC power surge. The plunge action is quite useful once I got used to that mode. May 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Router Love this thing. Smooth and powerful, no matter what I throw at it. I put it in my makeshift table as soon as I got it, and while I haven't used it without the table yet, I'm sure it'll impress me just as much when I do. I'm no pro, so this is about as much as I can tell you...it's a good purchase if you're looking for a powerful router to put in a table. May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great router package Really nice package to hold all the posts . Looks well made. Have not had a chance to use it yet. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best router you can buy I have gone through Hitachi, Porter Cable, Makita, and Milwaukee routers. The DW 618 is a professional grade unit. I build cabinets and furniture for a living. Every Dewalt router I've owned has outlasted the competition. This one will be no different. Both bases are very simple to setup and use. I currently have the fixed base in a router table and the plunge base for every day routing. I believe the 618 is the ideal router for 99% of routing tasks. I plan on buying a couple more when the need arises. December 1, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Speed Control Blown After Third Use I just got this router about a week ago, and was so excited to start working on some projects I've had penned for some time now. I was doing some light routing on wood, and absolutely was falling in love with this router as it was cutting so smooth and effortlessly. On the third day of use, while in the middle of routing on wood, the speed control sort of just shorted. I had been using it on the setting of 3, and suddenly, without any catalyst, I heard a very soft click (in the motor), and the motor instantly went to full throttle. I've tried everything (unplugging, letting it sit for a day, etc.) and it appears the speed control is toast. The router still functions, but is now on-off. No more speed control, which really sucks as I'm doing fine detail work on a soft wood, and the high speeds can/will burn the wood. I will be calling to get a replacement. I would give this better ratings if I hadn't had this problem, as everything else about this setup I love. I didn't tank the review (on the other side) because I'm expecting this is simply a rare manufacturing flaw, and not common. June 14, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Loved it... Bought this router set a little over two months ago. I played with it a couple of times until this weekend, when I got it out for a small project. I basically needed a one inch deep (half in wide) dado run along the length of an 8 ft 4x4. I made a number of passes to reach this depth and then the motor started to sputter and arc. On my first project and the brushes were going bad. I left the router alone for the rest of the day and then switched it on in my kitchen and the router housing lit up (sparks everywhere). I promptly registered the warranty and then noticed there was a 90 day money back guarantee, so I decided to return it instead of getting it replaced. I actually love the profile of this router and the feel of it in my hands, but after a problem with so little use, I could not convince myself to just have them order me a new one. After speaking with my grandfather who has worked in the construction industry all his life, I learned something new about DeWalt. I can't speak for all of their products, but apparently there are a number of them that DeWalt will recondition the motors on and then turn around and sell as NEW. It's no longer hard to figure out how/why mine had issues so quickly being so lightly used. It's very possible I would have a different experience if I had just replaced it with the same unit, but I just didn't feel like taking the chance. One other note, I wasn't too impressed with the adjustment ring. I found it difficult to be very precise. May 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Great tool, highly recommended for anybody looking for a new router. February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Router Deal I Was Looking For I have always wanted a plunge base for my router. That, and the hard case, made this a much needed valuable upgrade to my routing abilities. Dewalt's incentive discount was also helpful. I used both bases and have realized this will last me many years and do everything I ask of it. January 12, 2016
