I'm slowly switching over to Dewalt 20V Max cordless equipment since I picked up another drill with a charger and two batteries last year. One of those batteries failed and Dewalt replaced it for me at no charge under the 2 year warranty. Anyway, I had been looking for a right angle drill when I found this unit. I do model railroading and sometimes need to drill in tight places under the layout. This drill has been great for that. One thing I don't get isn't so much about the drill, more about it's description! The outside of the box and most of the places I looked do not mention the built-in LED light. The LED comes on automatically and illuminates the work piece, turns off about a minute after you stop drilling. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it had this feature (see working under the layout above) as I find it really handy. I don't understand why they don't mention this cool feature. My other Dewalt has the light as well and I was looking for it. The deep socket that allows the bit to be placed farther in and therefor reduce the space need is good as well.
This is the first "right-angle" drill I have owned, though I've used a couple that belong to friends. This is better than either one of those, but it's worth mentioning that the others were both really old. The only reason that the value is not "excellent" as this a bare tool, no battery, no charger for the price. If you don't already a charger and batteries, the kit they sell that includes a battery and charger is the way to go.

This tool is something I should have bought years ago. However never to late. The weight is fair indicating a good quality tool. Balance is not to bad. Pricing was very fair. It allows me to get into tight areas. Being it's a 20 volt it has a good deal of torque to it.

An angle drill is not always needed, but when you need one it's nice to have. Right out of the box this is a torquey little drill, I felt confident about this drill. My first job was with a one inch paddle bit through floor joists to run wires, was disappointed. Couldn't get the job done. I guess this will be the angle drill that's nice to have when you need it for small jobs.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Chasman Great for what it is made for.
I bought this drill as a bare tool to add to other tools I already had with the Dewalt 20 Volt Max system. I have been very pleased with the performance of this drill. I am a professional carpenter and contractor and I do a fair amount of cabinet installation. This drill does very well what it is designed to do, such as getting in to tight spaces. I read other reviews of this drill that described it as junk, but I suspect they were using it to bore large holes as if it were a viable replacement for a corded right angle drill. That is not what it was designed for! If you use the right tool for the right job, this is a great addition to your Dewalt 20 Volt Max system.

Very pleased with the power and torque of this drill. Easy to use and to change bits. Wish that it was carried in the store; however customer service rep took care of the internet purchase while I was there. Received the product in about 3 days.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nselegzi Much better than right angle bit, but ...
If you already have DeWalt tools and 20v batteries, this is great addition to your collection of tools. You may not need it often, but when you do it's a blessing. It's a much better alternative to right-angle bits that you can buy for $20. It's easier to control and the power is great. It is not a miracle worker, though. The chuck is small, but not so small that you're going to get into all those nooks in crannies you might need to get into. Also, trigger is too large, resulting in your constantly starting the drill when you really don't want to. There is no torque control on this drill, but you can control the speed of the drill using the trigger.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by ckuhtz chuck broken after 1 month
loved the tool at first, after one month the toolless chuck would not open anymore. just progressively got worse. makes a grinding noise, tension is failing, too. retail price for the part is $30 without labor, tool retail cost is $120. probably not worth repairing at service center. can't find my receipt since I wasn't expecting this to fail anytime soon, so, i'm probably out of luck with home depot as well. very disappointed with such a poor quality part on what is supposed to be a high quality tool brand. seriously, a broken chuck locking mechanism after half a dozen uses?? never seen this before.
