It will take some getting used to since the motor is on right instead of left. Previous saws had motor on left. They make one but it is 3 x more expensive. Works well but needed heavy duty batteries.

As usual the DeWalt tool is well made and I liked using it. The downside is, this is only for a few cuts at a time because the battery drained relatively quickly. I would use the corded model for extensive all day use. I do not regret buying this saw because when only a few cuts are needed, it's great and cuts well. I was able to use it for an extended period by changing batteries often. I wondered what effect of doing this to the batteries day in and out would be? Overall I'm happy with this tool!

I have to keep my eyes on this saw. Everyone at the Habitat builds like to use it. Tough little saw, lightweight. Cuts through all wood even wet frozen wood

This saw surprised me with the power it has! It's very simple to use. I did watch U-Tube videos to see how well it worked and I learned how to line the saw up when making cuts. The only reason I gave it 3 stars regarding the value is because the battery is not included. The saw cost about $100 and the battery and chargers were $200! Either way it was definitely worth the money!!!

If you are left handed you will be amazed at how much easier and more accurate a circular saw can be operated with the widest part of the base on the supported wood and not the waste side. For a right handed person you will see what us leftys have to deal with.

I've a been a great fan of Dewalt tools for a long time. Based on my experience they are well designed and built, great value for their price and seem to last forever!
This battery powered saw does not disappoint. I would rate the saws performance on par with my 20 volt Dewalt impact driver. Go ahead and purchase this saw...you deserve it!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by techvette Do you really need yet another saw? YES, YOU DO!
I didn't think I had use for yet another circular saw, but I got this 20V version as part of a 5-piece combo kit that included other tools I needed. The kit price on sale effectively made the saw free (when compared to the non-kit price of the other tools I needed.)
Boy, am I glad I got this. We all know how inconvenient it can be to run long extension cords through the yard, into the attic and other places where you need to cut something. While I love my 7 1/4" Skil and my Dremel Saw-Max (BTW, perfect for all of those jobs where you wind up using a jigsaw in a failed attempt to make a long straight cut), I frequently found myself frequently spending more time finding, unrolling and re-rolling extension cables than cutting.
I had doubts about the performance of a battery-powered saw, especially with the relatively small 6-1/2" blade. My doubts were, however, completely unfounded. Like every other DEWALT 20V product I have, the saw performs admirably. I cut many 2x4s, 3/4" plywood, PVC conduit and a host of other things the first day I used it. The battery had more than enough charge left over for the flashlight during cleanup.
Cutting is fast and clean. The saw is very light and compact, making one-handed cuts stable and clean. That means less time clamping, installing guides and waiting for helpers.
As this SKU doesn't include a battery, I recommend recommend getting the 4.0AH battery. (Though any 20V DEWALT batteries you have will work.)
With the 2.0AH batteries that came with the combo kit I purchased, the blade had a hard time getting started once or twice. The immediate solution was to make sure the saw got up to speed before starting the cut. Not enough to really cause a problem or annoyance, but be aware. With the 4.0AH battery, I've experienced no blade stoppage or kick-back.
* VERY light weight, easily half that of my corded Skil saw.
* No cords!
* Great battery life
* Powerful - lots of torque for cutting old, dry boards.
* Quick blade changes with a hex key / allen wrench. The saw has a small button that, when held, locks the motor in place, so you don't need two tools to remove or install a blade.
* Pretty yellow and black makes it easier to find in the dark!
* Nothing comes to mind.
For smaller jobs, I'd also recommend the Dremel Saw-Max. (http://www.homedepot.com/p/Dremel-6-Amp-Corded-Saw-Max-Tool-Kit-SM20-03/204331723)
