The DEWALT 20 in. Variable-Speed Scroll Saw helps you create accurate, detailed workpieces and has a user-friendly configuration with easily accessible controls, reduced vibration design and variable-speed performance. The dependable 1.3 Amp motor delivers 400 to 1750 SPM for plenty of power, while the compact design makes portability around your jobsite or workshop a breeze. Customer Questions & Answers

What is the thickest piece of wood that this saw can accommodate?

Asked by: Wyman
I havet cut a 2x4 but it is slow. 1x4 and any other like plywood is a breeze.

Does this saw require a stand or can it be used on a bench top?

Asked by: leapold
I am sure that it could be used on a bench top if it was fastened securely, but the leg set that is made for this saw is excellent and gives you more versatility of the tool. Since I cut pieces that are as large as 15 X 36 inches, bench top would not work for me, but even if I were only cutting small pieces, I would still prefer the leg set that is made specifically for this saw. If I were doing smaller items, as I have done in the past, I could comfortably sit on a stool and cut with this setup.

Does this saw have or capable of having a foot pedal?

I dont believe it was in the specs unless i missed it.
Asked by: Bearnup
Yes you can use a foot switch, I use one on mine since day 1, search online, not sure if Dewalt has one or not, but there are some out there, Google or Youtube you will find what you seek :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scroll saw I purchased this saw to replace a older and smaller one, this saw is so quite and smooth when it is running. Being able to raise the top arm and feed the blade down is a big plus and time saver for me. How the blade tension is and it location right up front is a added plus you get the right tension on the blade, I am getting longer life out of my saw blades as well. Very happy with this purchase I did get the stand and light all at the same time.

However when assembling the saw to stand, I discovered there were no screws to attach table to saw, no allen wrench, no blade nor was there an instruction book, warranty card etc., Not much to ask for when you spend over $600 for the entire package, missing items advertised and noted on packaging. If problem not resolved this will be going back assembled as is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product This is my 2nd 20 inch Dewalt Scroll Saw to own, the first one was used for 20 years without any issues. I have used this saw to cut small to thick stock for years. It works great for cutting any of the fine detailed cuts that you find with many scroll saw cuts. Excellent purchase for the hobbyist...

There is a lot of reviews on this saw, and if your a scroll sawyer as I tend to be, its a great saw to step up to, as I did, I wanted a bigger saw, with less vibration then my old one had, and smoother also, this one has it beat hands down, my only problem with it, and its not a deal buster, is the arm needs to stay up so you can thread the blade through the hole in the part your cutting out, there is after market accessories for this, The cast iron table is great, love the weight, its dampens the slight vibes you may have, I can stand a nickel on edge on the top and it don't move, and mine is not bolted down to a stand yet, just sits on my work table, which is a sheet of 3/4 plywood on top of a picnic table on my porch, when you unbox it, clean it, put a coat of wax, I used Johnsons paste wax, buff out, and your good to go, Great Saw Dewalt. Home Depot needs to work on shipping to store a bit more though, I thought it took a bit longer to get her then one would think in this day and age.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works awesome! I bought these for a project to make 14 chessboards for my wife from hardwoods. It worked great cutting them all out. The variable speed capability allows you to adjust it based on wood hardness

I also got the stand and the light. There are a couple of reasons for taking one star off the review. It arrived without the upper and lower blade knobs. So I was not able to attach a blade and use the saw. I called Home Depot and ordered them but it took two and a half weeks for me to get them. I was not convinced that the representative understood what I needed so I called DeWalt also. They told me to return the saw and order a new one. I told them that was a great deal of effort and why could they not just mail them out to me. Finally they agreed. Two weeks later three large bolts arrived in the mail that had nothing to do with the saw at all. The other manufacturing issue I see is that the hole in the table for the saw blade is crooked. It is not a performance problem but it cause me to misjudge the center and direction of the blade. This is not major, it just requires me to mentally adjust. I could order a new table I suppose but I am not sure yet if I will. I have never owned a scroll saw so I cannot compare it to others. I did watch lots and lots of YouTube videos and I finally decided that those who were reviewing the cheaper scroll saws always said something like "It is OK but" or "Nice starter saw." It appeared that many of the cheaper ones had lots of frustrations associated with them when changing blades. So I decided to go with the DeWalt. The operation of the saw is great. It is very easy to use. I have one constant frustration and that is cutting in a straight line. I just cannot do it. The blades are made in such a way that the cut has a natural drift which causes the cut to go to your right. The crooked hole in the table causes me to misjudge the angle of push. Or maybe it is just me. As a result I get a very wobbly line whereby I continually try to find the correct angle of push and stay on it for a straight line. At this point I am really baffled as to how people do the amazing intricate work that can be viewed on YouTube. My work looks like I took a hack saw to it. I also ordered the stand and the light. I am glad I did. I put wheels on the stand that lock and so can easily roll the saw around. I work in my back yard and roll the saw under cover when not using it. The light is really important. My eyes are not as young as they once were and the very thin blades can be hard to see. There is a three month return warranty on the saw so I intend to give it my all during that time and find out if there are any other issues. I did call DeWalt to inform them that they sent me bolts instead of the blade screws. They put me on hold for ever. Then a recording came on telling me they would call me back and I would not lose my place in line. I never heard from them again. So, the customer service is pretty bad. Home Depot is a better way to go, at least during the three month warranty period.
