All of the recent D55146 inventory should be 1.6HP and 5.0 CFM @ 90PSI. They are using the original DEWALT stock photo.
According to DEWALT:
"The D55168 and D55146 were originally designed to only be sold in the US, so they were designed per the US standards. This yielded a performance level of 1.8HP and 5.4 SCFM on the D55168 and 1.8HP and 5.2 SCFM on the D55146.

Since the release of these models, some Canadian stores requested to carry the products. Since it did not meet the Canadian code, we re-designed and created the D55168-CA and D55146-CA, which yielded performance levels of 1.6HP and 4.8 SCFM.
Recently, the US standard agency has issued a clarification to their standard, which makes the electrical requirements almost identical to the Canadian standard. DEWALT chose to consolidate the US and Canadian units into a common SKU that would meet both the Canadian and the clarified US standard. We were able to improve performance at 1.6HP and get 5.0 SCFM, while staying within the electrical requirements for both Canada and the US."

Answer:
Both the small tank and the large tank probably have the same compressor and motor. I have both and the rating is 5 CFM @ 90 PSI with a 1.6 hp motor.
The lower profile unit does produce at least 5 cfm from using a 5 cfm sander. The taller one is a little short on output. Both are great units. The lower profile model is quicker to recharge for obvious reasons, but cycles much more frequently.

I bought this compressor 3 days ago and as soon as I got it out of the box the pressure regulator knob indicates pull to adjust push to lock ....... Well I pulled it out and the plastic knob came completely off. I simply used as set of pliers to adjust my pressure to 100 psi and it worked like a charm so far. Other than that I had no other issues.

No, my pressure regulator is still working. I'm a DIYer, so I don't use it as much as a contractor would, but I do use it every month or two. I'm still very happy with this compressor.

The instructions tell you to lay it down so as to avoid accidentally tipping over. While it does stand up for storage, it isn't really designed to operate standing up.

In my experience, the compressor has a really hard time keeping up when it is below 35 degrees ambient temp. I was on a cold jobsite and couldn't get above 100psi

There is nothing in the Instruction Manual that indicates a temperature, so, just make sure you have it drained out before the temps start dropping down below freezing. By that, I mean the tank itself and any water traps you may have.

Place the air compressor in a clean, dry and well ventilated area at least 12" (30.5 cm) away from the wall or other obstructions that will interfere with the flow of air. Keep the compressor away from
areas that have dirt and/or volatile fumes in the atmosphere. These impurities may clog the intake filter and valves, causing inefficient operation.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by buy makita bought compressor in a crunch while waiting on makita compressor to be shipped and was terribly disappointed. doesnot keep up keep with one coil framing gunand itis to easyto forget to layit down before use August 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great mobility, quiet, awesome buy! A friend of mine does construction and recommended this to me. I used his a couple of times and was sold. I work mostly outside in and around large construction sites and I can't always drive my truck right up to where I need it. I was carrying an 80 lb gas-powered compressor as much as 100yds back and forth to my truck for a few weeks until I'd had enough and decided to look at new options. This compressor delivers the pressure I need while still being mobile enough for me to get around easily and without risking my back. All I need is a small generator or extension cord, which is certainly preferable to my previous set-up. I'm glad I made this purchase! June 24, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product We used it to renew our roof. It was 1800sqf roof and this compressor didn't stop once. It performed in 90 degree weather and in storm. Great product for the right price. I recommend spending some money on this product instead of renting. You can use it for polishing cars, paint job of house, and other house improvment. June 28, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Solid. No problems after 3 months. Have been running various nailers and staplers. Tank fills quickly. Not the loudest compressor I've used. Seems very sturdy but not too heavy to lift into vehicle on occasion. Since purchasing, have run into couple crews that have been working with this compressor for a while. Recommended. May 12, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Can't use in upright position I only gave it one star because when I look at reviews, I always look at the most critical first. I figure other people might do the same. I actually never even turned the thing on to see how it ran. As you can see by the attached pictures, I intended to run it in the upright position due to how my garage is built and where I already had my hose reel. I didn't see the warning label on the display model or I wouldn't have bought it in the first place. I think the reasoning is because in the upright position, the tank fill fittings are closest to the bottom and thus would allow moisture accumulation to go back down into the compressor and gauges. Another thing, the display model boasted the flat free solid rubber tires which I was excited about since I have one on my wheelbarrow. When I got mine home and unboxed, it had tube tires on it. I'm returning mine. July 18, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Real workhorse! Easily runs a few framing guns or roofing guns, or many trim guns. Heavy but not that bad to move around. Pretty quiet for a compressor of it's ability. Keep the tank drained after use, as you should with any compressor and it should serve you well. Well priced for what you get. If you buy just one compressor and need it to do everything, this is the one you should look at. April 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome compressor My old Porter Cable pancake compressor was getting old and worn out so I found this new Dewalt compressor and decided it was perfect, more capacity, more pressure and it had wheels to transport it around ( at 83 lbs I'm sure glad) . It is so much quieter than the old pancake, I don't mind it now when it starts up. March 29, 2016
