This compressor is junk, it will not work in the cold, takes forever to get started in the morning. while using it, it will not kick on until it is to low on air to shoot nails, then you have to wait for it to fill back up. for the size of this compressor, that should not be happening. i do not recommend this compressor at all.

This replaced a cheap chinese knock off i had been using, and beats my old one hands down. I've had this for a couple of weeks, and keep it in my garage. I live in MN, and my garage is insulated but unheated. It has been in the teens and 20's outside, which means it it in the 20's or 30's in my garage. I have a leaky tire on my car which needs regular inflation, and this compressor has never failed to run in the cold. I think the key is if you must use an extension cord, make sure it is heavy enough gauge. Mine is a 10 gauge that I made myself, and i hAve the unit connected to a 20A circuit. As for running nailers, this thing is powerful, relatively quiet (especially compared to oil-free models) and compact. Recharge time is less than a minute. My only gripe, and the reason for not giving it 5 stars is because the handle is too close to the regulator valve, and makes it uncomfortable to carry. Not a problem if you have smaller hands, but I have big hands and this is an issue; the regulator valve rubs on my knuckles when I carry it unless I reposition. Good price, good value. Worth it to get a name brand that has some warranty. Don't be tempted to go cheap, especially with compressors.

I bought this compressor - used - several years ago. It hasn't let me down, but as other reviewers state, it doesn't perform well in the cold. I've been able to start mine at below freezing on a 20A circuit. After a few moments, it fires well. The thing that annoys me the most though is the sound. This sucker is LOUD. Yes, it will run multiple nail guns all day long, but you'll be deaf after your done. I would look for a quieter model, a brand that's Green and starts with an M.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by rancher Compressor won't start without help
It worked fine for a couple months, but then it wouldn't start and would trip the reset switch. I have found that if I flip it on for 3 seconds then off and repeat about 10 times it will warm up enough to start. Once it starts the first time, it will run all day no problem. A person shouldn't have this kind of headaches with a new compressor.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Handyman Very good air compressor
Fills to maximum pressure very quickly and maintains its pressure well. I followed the brake in instructions and ran it for twenty minutes without pressure and it has been very reliable. It is a little heavy, but that is to be expected in a quality air compressor.

As you read the reviews, you will notice that this does not perform well in the cold. I tried regular compressor oil and it would trip out anytime below 50 degrees. Then I tried Amsoil compressor oil and this helped greatly. Now it will operate down to about 30 degrees. Amsoil is synthetic and cold temps do not effect it as much. If you will use it in a heated environment or a warm climate, you will like it. If you plan to use it in an unheated shop, you won't like it. I can't recommend this product.
