Many cities around the country have DeWalt/Porter Cable service centers, which have or can get anything you may need, and can certainly change out the tip. You can also order repair and service parts on DeWalt's website.

I've hung over 100 sheets of drywall in my remodeling experience, but always used a cordless drill, not a screw gun. With this gun, once the screw depth is properly adjusted, you can go 100 miles per hour, setting the screw depth into the drywall perfectly on each shot. My battery powered drill is really too heavy. This gun is much lighter and especially appreciated on overhead work. Also, if you choose the right drill-tipped drywall screw, you can effortlessly screw into metal studs and metal furring channel, just as fast as into wood studs. Great DeWalt product, like everything they make.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool once you get the technique If you have never used a drywall gun before, this review is for you. I had previously used a cordless drill for drywall, but decided to move up to a drywall gun when finishing my basement. When I first tried it I was close to throwing it out. I could not get a screw in without slipping and stripping out the screw head. As it turned out, I had no idea how to use this simple tool. My biggest mistake was to use it just like a regular drill. Although the gun has variable rpm, it really has to be brought up to full speed and drive the screw in quickly. You also need to place a hand on the upper part of the drill and put some pressure on it and push the screw in. Unlike a regular drill, the clutch will prevent the gun from engaging until you put pressure on it. Once you get the hang of two handed operation, you can lock the trigger which means the motor will spin continuously and engage the drill when you put pressure on it. This way you can operate it with only one hand on the upper part of the drill. When using the gun, make sure the drywall is held tight up against the framing member and that the screw is going in straight. It will also take a few tries to get the dept setting just right. I like that it has a cord as you don't have to worry about running out of batteries, it also makes it lighter which is great when working on ceilings. A regular drill is heavy and slow and my arm would really feel it after just a few overhead sheets. With its light weight and quick operation I felt no fatigue after hanging my whole ceiling. If you are hanging more than just a few sheets, this really is a worthwhile investment.
