Home Depot provides both types by various manufacturers----I prefer the Bosch vs the DeWalt but I'm not sure if one is technically better than the other---The T shanks are slightly higher in cost----but certainly worth the difference----Many times the only shank available for a specific type of blade is a U type----Either will work----the U shank requires a bit more attention to assuring it's seated correctly, I hope this helps Read Less

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 37 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JIG SAW very easy to install, was for a job and it did the work August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by awesome jigsaw! The best jigsaw out there!Powerful with all the bells and whistles. February 10, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't Buy It. Blade Fell Out on 2nd Cut! I purchased this yesterday at 4:58 p.m. and after 2 cuts in 3/4 plywood... I returned it at 8:30 p.m. I READ and FOLLOW all directions. I'm careful about reading instructions for ANY new item I purchase. This saw is simple to use and as a Senior, I've used Jigsaws since I was 15. Been making cabinets since I was 17. I've used all different brands of jigsaws. Long story short... as other reviewers have mentioned, the blade wouldn't stay inside. It would go in properly and be tightened down properly with the handle in front... but after one 21" cut I was shocked at how crooked the cut was! I looked at the blade and noticed it was still clamped but hanging out about halfway. Thinking I made a mistake, I properly reseated it and just for the heck of it... reread that portion of the manual to insure I wasn't doing something wrong. Made a 17" cut and the same thing happened! It ruined the cabinet piece I was building. I returned it and bought a Makita (see my review for that jigsaw). June 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great saw The saw has good powerand does did a great job making replacement side panels for my boat May 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Saw This saw cut like a hot knife thru cold butter. I enjoyed using it once I purchased the correct blades. (see one of my other reviews) Dewalt makes great products. May 10, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Underperforming and overpriced As I'm expanding my hobby/DIY interests from basic carpentry to cabinetmaking, I decided I needed a more precise jigsaw than my old Skil, purchased from a VERY large discount department chain. The DeWalt seemed to be a beast of a machine - more powerful and more heavy duty, so I gave it a try, along with some new Bosch T-shank blades. I read the reviews about blades falling out, so I was careful to insert the blade completely until the bevel on the end butted up solidly against the matching beveled recess in the piston clamp, and made sure the clamp closed fully. Testing it on on a common 2x4, made one cut . . . two cuts . . . going well, plenty of power. But then the blade fell out on the third cut. Uh-oh. That never happened on any of my other jigsaws. I then took a look at the cuts - they weren't square. Not only were they angled, but the angle varied. Which means the blade was deflecting as I was making a STRAIGHT cut. A precision machinist's protractor showed the blade was almost a full degree out of perpendicularity with the saw base which I couldn't adjust out. AND . . . it clearly varied during the cut. The top part of the cut was dead straight, but the bottom part of the cut was wavy. Curved cuts had quite a bevel to them. Really, very little improvement over my old jigsaw. (Though it IS appreciably more powerful.) This isn't my first - or even second or third - jigsaw. I hoped this Dewalt (Made in Mexico) would make higher precision cuts than my cheap old Skil (Made in USA) but the lack of improvement in precision is less than I expected for nearly quadruple the price. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This jig saw is great! This saw cuts wood like a hot knife through butter. It does not vibrate your hands like most jig saws. Can't see going wrong with this one. April 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Buy this jigsaw!! Hands down this is the best jigsaw I have ever used. Purchased the battery powered unit for work (330B) but since this is my own money I decided to go with the corded unit instead. This is the best jigsaw investment I have ever made – PERIOD! I am a journeyman plumber and gas fitter in my fifty’s and been around the trades all my life. You want tools that last and won’t let you down and perform flawlessly. This is the one for you! Also, take a look at the picture I took of ¾” Birch plywood (excellent wood by the way and purchased from the local Home Depot). I used this saw to trim the plywood for garage shelf's and this saw was fast, smooth and precise and the cut was perfect using a Bosch blade, number T308BO, called Xtra-clean, 12 TPI. Oh Yeah!
