Hi Lefty,
I'm Travis from The Home Depot. Thanks for visiting our site.
This drill does not have a control for choosing torque. Lightening the torque setting causes a clutch to release the drive at lighter load, thus avoiding screw round-out.
This unit has no such clutch.
It is, however, variable speed, so it can be an effective driver.
Thank you for asking,

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great drill. Better than cordless drills IMO Have had it for less than a week and used it only once, but feels great. Solid construction, Lightweight and easy to handle. The variable speed is great help for newbies. The drill comes with a reversible button and can supposedly work as a driver too (haven't yet tried that out) January 7, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice drill Was looking for a drill with the keyed chuck. I think they grip the bits better. This is a great drill. As soon as I got it, I drilled four holes in a 1/4" steel bracket that burned up the cordless drill I bought. Went through it like butter, no bogging or bit slipping. The reverse switch is in a good location. It takes a little while to get used to the variable speed, it's touchy. It seems like it will last a long time. And Home Depot shipped it free in 2 days !!! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Drill For The Price Ive had this drill for about 3 weeks and it works great. I got it because it has a chuck with the key so i can crank down on the drill bits and its corded so i dont have to worry about a dead battery halfway through a project. Seems well built and has lots of power,. The one thing im not to pumped on is the "Variable Speed", it seems like it goes super slow or really fast, not much of a medium speed. Over all im glad i got it and the price was pretty good! September 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good drill, good price Normally I'm not a huge DeWalt Fan (pay an awful lot of money to get that yellow plastic on it) but this drill is great. I have a 3 drill system with a cordless 12V for screwdriving and light drilling, a corded 6A (this drill) for more serious wood drilling, an an SDS hammer for very serious concrete drilling and breaking. This drill fits in very well and is a great drill for the money, but I wouldn't pay more than what I did for the drill, just not worth it. January 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good balance and weight Looked for and found a great quality drill simple to use. Good length cord for jobs around the house. Replaced a cordless that broke after long use on the job and have found that this drill is perfect for a retired DIY' er on simple home use and do not have to worry about length of time between battery charges. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Great Drill I love this drill. It is lightweight and fits the hand comfortably. I have a battery powered drill but every time I go to use it the battery is weak and needs three hours of charge. I wanted an electric one so when I need to drill a hole it is ready to use. I don't mind having to connect it to a power source. I am pleased I choose a Dewalt. July 20, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It seems to be just what my husband was looking for. It goes along easily to other homes. The case is nice and handleable. We have used it on several occasions. It is very light due to not having the heavy battery in the base of it. Also, the battery won't have to be replaced down the road. The order went very smoothly on line and the product came within a couple of days. Very pleased overall with the whole process. August 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I love this drill I'm a fairly slight older woman who has purchased several drills without much success after my husband's Makita bit the dust. Cordless drills are just too heavy for me and often too big. On the other hand, I've purchased angled and other lightweight corded drills that are either whimpy or not capable of performing a wide range of projects. So I looked for a drill that had good reviews from both men and women and wasn't too heavy. This powerful drill/driver fits the bill at less than 4 lbs. (I wouldn't want it any heavier!) I put it to immediate use on a delicate RTA project with itty-bitty screws. No slippage which I always seem to do. I can't wait to work on something more substantial though I have no doubt it will be up for the test. The motion is true, didn't wobble at all and chuck is easy. I cannot imagine ever needing to buy another drill. I also purchased a 20 piece companion Dewalt drill/driver bit accessory package with an extra box of Phillips bits. December 18, 2012
