Bought this because all of my tools are Dewalt and love to listen to the radio while I work. I was truly disappointed by the poor sound. As someone put it, "sounds like the music is playing underwater", not clear at all. Very surprised Dewalt would put out a product like this as i've always found their power tools to be well built?? The charging capibility is great, the extra plugs is a good idea although i'm not sure i would ever use them. I wanted this for some time and even considered changing out the speakers myself but at the end of the day, the extra costs just didn't make sense since this radio is $150 as is. I will be taking it back and possibly getting the Milwaakee as the reviews were good on it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by christmassurpriseno I cannot rate this item because it is a Christmas present for my husband. Because you sent this e-mail at this time he now knows what his present is. Perhaps after Christmas he will rate the radio charger.

I was looking for a durable, portable radio and since I am fully invested in Dewalt 18V ni-cad, with plans to eventually go to Lithium-ion, I thought this would kill two birds with one stone. Took it home, it charged batteries fine, but the sound from the speakers is awful. The bass boost makes it even worse. If you are going to pay premium price for a product, you would think they would use premium parts, not so here. Overall, it has a cheap feel to it. The speakers are loud, on battery and plugged in, but a very muddled sound with no separation of highs and lows. Worse than my first boombox 20 years ago. Also, if you use an mp3 player (or phone as I do) for music, there's no compartment to protect it.
I returned the Dewalt radio and bought the Milwaukee 2790-20 jobsite radio. It far exceeds the Dewalt in all aspects, except that it does not charge batteries. I did buy M12 impact kit for the batteries, so I spent more in the long run, but am extremely pleased (plus that impact is awesome). If you are looking for a good sounding, durable, highly portable radio, get the Milwaukee, you won't be dissapointed, like I was with this Dewalt.

I ordered this as a Christmas present for my husband. He loved the radio/charger. It had more features than he had expected. He works in new home construction. Sometimes power sources are hard to find. This gives him the ability to listen to the radio while charging his batteries. Also his favorite feature is being able to plug other tools into his radio. Overall more than he expected!

I have owned 2 of this exact model and 1 of the earlier model. Tuner dial goes bad on both so I now have to use the seek button which can be an issue in areas that have poor station signal. Speakers lose sound quality over the coarse of a few months. Reception isn't great. I think the manufacturer knows this because the antenna design has changed several times through the years. Will not purchase another one. And have stopped purchasing any dealt tools because quality has really gotten bad over the past few years.

My Wife bought me this radio for Christmas. Over the last year or so I have bought several DeWalt tools, including Hammer Drill, Impact Driver and Oscillating tool, all of which use the 20V Max Li-ion batteries, unfortunately my wife didn't realize this Radio/Charger doesn't charge them :-(. Having read reviews for the DeWalt DC015 (the Radio/Charger that DOES charge 20V) it seems that THIS Radio is actually the better sounding of the Two. I have a 14.4V DeWalt Hammerdrill lying around, and I'm using the batteries from that in this Radio so I can use it should I lose electrical power at Home or Jobsite/Campsite or wherever. I also bought the little DeWalt Bluetooth Adapter so I can play tracks from my phone via the Aux input, which is much better than having to leave my phone attached to the Radio. The phone can play/skip/pause tracks and control the volume remotely :-). This radio is very loud and keeps pretty good sound quality at loud volumes. Was recently taking down the Christmas lights around the exterior of my home and could clearly hear music playing on the radio in my garage around the other side of the house ! (Used my phone to turn it down before I annoyed the neighbors lol)
