Is there a connector to connect to a vacuum?

Asked by: Lou
I don't think Dewalt makes a connector, so you'll have to rig something. The circumference of the outside of the exit port is about 5 5/8". Solving for Diameter gives a value of 1.79". So look for a stretchy flexible plastic tubing about that ID that you can fit over the port with reasonable snugness, and consider using a hose clamp and cutting a relief slit or two in the tubing to get a good snug fit. Good luck!

how to set depth of new blades in DeWalt hand held planner

how to set depth of new blades in DeWalt hand held planner
Asked by: Noot
Planing depth is infinitely variable from 0 to .098" (2.5 mm). To adjust the cutting depth, rotate the depth adjustment knob/front handle (C) clockwise from the “0” position. Each click of the adjustment knob represents approximately 0.1mm of depth. The cutting depth will increase from 0 to as much as .098". It is recommended that test cuts be made in scrap wood after each re-adjustment to make sure that the desired amount of wood is being removed by the planer. Several shallow passes (rather than one deep one) will produce a smoother finish.

7 Amp 3-1/4 in. Corded Hand Planer Kit is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works fine but creates a huge mess. I bought this the other day hoping to cut down on my work load but it creates more work by blowing the chips all over my shop so I have to spend more time vacuuming up the mess it creates. It does a decent enough job but if I go off of the 0 setting the dust port plugs off. I can't hook up my dust collector to it. Plus it leaves score lines so I have to sand them out. Overall not happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice tool I rehab houses that are often 100 plus years old. A common problem, when these older houses begin to sag, is that the doors no longer sit in the jambs properly. The proper way to correct this is to jack up the house and install support columns so everything is plumb and level but in some cases this is just not feasible. A quick fix is to plane a little off the offending door edges. For years I used a cheapy Black & Decker power plane but it's time to retire it. This DeWalt plane is quite a bit heavier but it really eats wood. Be sure to inspect the surface for nails, screws and staples which will quickly destroy your blades. Very nice product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing flaw I bought this planer in spite of reading a review elsewhere in which the customer complained about the guide plates not being on parallel planes. I found that the front plate was very loose in the body and could be swiveled to the left or right, and would stay in random positions. If I made several passes on an edge, it could end up with an extreme taper. If I planed a flat board, it would cut .020" on one side, and nothing on the other. It's too bad it has this manufacturing defect because it's an extremely nice tool to use otherwise. They refunded my money, and I bought another brand.
