If this compressor runs at 22 amps, what is the start up amperage? Will a 30 amp 220 breaker be sufficient?
Asked by: Warz
mine is on a 30 amp breaker fed by 100 amp service. seems more than adequate. This compressor starts very easy in my opinion even when cycling on and off with the tank full

The spec's say that the running amperage is 22 amps. Will a new 30 amp service be sufficient to accomodate starting voltage??

Asked by: Maddog
Thats seems a bit close but mine is on a 30 amp breaker fed by a 100 amp service which seems fine so far. keep in mind i have yet to run mine in hotter temps yet which pushes the load up a bit.

shipping

Can the compressor travel on its side in the back of a truck bed? Is a new compressor shipped with oil already in the compressor?
Asked by: Fisco
The compressor does ship with oil in it. It also ships with a Tip-n-Tell indicator to make sure it wasn't tipped in transit, so putting it on its side is probably a bad idea.

Wish it was crated a bit better as the average buyer would have to lay it down to get it home which i had to do. Has very nice features .my only complaint being the drain is not fun to get to. It is also on the noisy side due to a small intake cleaner. you will not hear much in a decent sized garage when this is running. It seems to keep up well when i tested it but cant be sure as i have not run any hi volume tools like a da sander or spray gun yet. Its the nicest compressor i could find in this price range and has the most features such as the built in hookups with a regulator along with its own shut off switch.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from DeWalt 80gal compressor Compressor came in excellent shape and so far works great. The only con and the reason why I had to give it three stars instead of five is it is so loud that I need to wear ear protection when it's running. It's like working next to a jet engine. This compressor needs to be isolated in an insulated room if you're going to use it in your shop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Far So Good. I've only been using this compressor for about a week now. So far it has met my expectations. The primary reason I bought it was my 27 gallon compressor could not keep up with the air needed to run my sandblasting cabinet. The Dewalt 80 gallon compressor keeps up very easily and only has to refill probably every 10-15 minutes. It is important to note that if you're going to sandblast or paint with this compressor that it does produce a lot of moisture and you should build a condensation system and use a dryer filter. I made my condensation system out of 1/2 inch copper pipe and ball valves. You can find designs for them on Youtube.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A Little Disappointed Compressor runs and makes air but is much louder than expected. Louder than any two stage compressor I have ever heard. My brother has the exact same compressor, a different color with different name on it, but the same one and it is very quiet. Just a little swish, swish... this is so loud you can't hold a conversation while it is running. I followed all the directions and ran if for 30 minutes unloaded to break it in. Not sure what the difference is... I need to adjust the pressure switch as it shuts off a little prematurely at around 160 psi, but will go from 0 to 160psi very quickly. Overall, performance is as expected as far as making air goes... it is just really loud.

I had to have a major fit with them to get them to take it off the shipping pallet. It didn't come with isolator pads even though they said you have to have them, and the store doesn't carry them. The motor died with less than 5 hours of run time then gave me a runaround about warrantee. The people at home depot don't know what they are doing. I got this thing over a moth ago and still don't have a shop compressor.

First, thank you for the opportunity to comment on my purchase experience with Home Depot. 1. The compressor was scheduled to be delivered Monday November 21st; on Sunday 20th I received a call postponing delivery for the 5th of December because two people were required to safely move the compressor; on Tuesday 22nd in early morning, I received a call from the delivery company and one man came in with the compressor; he did not know that it have been scheduled to be delivered December 5th.Due to the weight of the compressor, he was unable to move it in place selected and had to call home depot for assistance; two men were sent and helped moving the compressor in place, My comment is that better coordination must be put in place at Home Depot. 2. On page 14 of the Dewalt Instructions booklet accompanying the compressor, the Global Valve/Air Discharge Valve is pictured and referred to in the instructions indicating that a "flexible coupling is recommended to be installed between the globe valve/air discharge outlet and main air distribution line to allow for vibration" The global valve is missing and considering the price of the equipment, it shall be supplied by either Home Depot or Dewalt. 3. No specifications are given for the flexible coupling mentioned in item 2; is this part available from Home depot? 4. No clear specifications are given for the metal pipe size needed for the distribution system nor the connectors needed and are these elements available from Home Depot? These are urgent questions that need to be answered so that the required break-in procedure can be conducted Your assistance will be appreciated so equipment can be used. Rating would change provided that proper assistance and questions are answered; once equipment is put to use, if performance is satisfactory, I would not hesitate to recommend it. Ramon J. The big plus that doesn't get a lot of press in reviews and that's how quiet it is. I was surprised by this as a number of my friends have compressors this size and they can drive me right out of the shop. So if you want an affordable compressor that does it all and is still friendly enough to share the shop this is the one.
