I installed over 250 SF of stone siding. Without this drill I would have had a miserable time mixing nearly a ton of mortar in 3 gallon batches. Loads of power, smooth as silk. Was amazing to see the heavy mortar turned to liquid in just over a minute of mixing. You absolutely cannot get a better drill for the money. This is a must have for sheet rock mud or concrete mixing in five gallon buckets. You can mix and entire bag of 60 lbs of concrete in a mud pan in just over a minute. The secret is to keep the depth of what your mixing under about one foot deep. What a pleasure this made of mixing concrete, mortar and sheet rock mud! This is a must have tool in every home builders tool kit.

Brought this drill to mix many bags of mud for a whole house tiling project. If you plan on laying floor tile and need to mix many bags of thinset you will NEED one of these. Forget wasting money on cheaper or less powerful drills. You will burn them up one by one! I smoked two corded drills and almost burnt out my 18 volt ridged cordless before breaking down and buying this one. It might be pricy, but it will get the job done. Variable speed will keep mud from flying everywhere when starting with more water in the pail then mud. All in all I have mixed at least 30 fifty pound bags of thinset and its still going strong. Made well and made to last. Buy a quality tool like this and only cry once, when it's time to pay for it. Not twice when a lesser quality one dies on you!

I bought this drill for going through 4x4's and 6x6's. I put spade bits and auger bits on this and it plowed through it all. The only drawback is that it doesn't quite fit between studs on 16" centers even with a compact Hole-Saw attachment (and the rear handle was removed of-course). If going through studs is what you have planned, then get a Right-Angle Drill. But for all other items, this is a great drill with a good balance between torque and speed.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by DRILLMASTER EXCELLENT DRILL WITH ONE MINOR FLAW
NICELY BUIILT DRILL. POWERFUL AND LIGHT TO WORK WITH. THE ONLY FLAW ON THIS DIRLL IS THE REVERSE SWITCH. IT HAS THE TENDENCY THE BREAK OFF IF YOUR A LITTLE TO ROUGH WITH IT. OTHER THEN THAT GREAT DRILL. A TINY BIT PRICY FOR A HOMEOWNER BUT, REASONABLY PRICED FOR A CONTRACTOR.

I've used many these over the years to mix a variety of materials and drill numerous holes (always someone else's drill and not my own) and bought a new one for myself recently. I've used mine for a couple weeks so far on a large mortar repair project and mixed about 20 bags of type-S in small amounts at a time.
Even with the 9-amp motor and the low speed I can feel the motor lugging, even with mortar mixed really thin, and I know straining the motor will end up burning up the brushes in the motor. For the price I paid I'd be much happier with even just 1amp. I don't remember the older models lugging as much as mine does, maybe I got a bad one?
Also I liked the older models that had the rocker switch between forward and reverse for drilling through studs and plates, but this one has a single switch and the toggle above it that I like less. Also the chuck key doesn't fit the very well and slips when i open or close it, which isn't good for either.
It works well for now, but had I known I probably would have bought a used older model that I liked for less.
