Answer:
Not required to be on a radio station. The adapter works by receiving your bluetooth source (like Pandora on a cell phone) and pushes it to the radio. It works for any device that has the mini RCA plug. I use it on my motorcycle to bridge between my phone and my motorcycle amp. It looks cool and works great!

It looks like a great device but does it HAVE to be used as a receiver for a radio? Can it also be used as a bluetooth receiver for a pair of headphones or a standalone speaker?

The output from the BT adapter is a 1/8" male cord, there is no way to plug in headphones unless you rig something up custom.

Answer:
I have a Dewalt Field radio, the Bluetooth receiver plugs straight into the AUX port/jack. Using the two sided tape and Velcro fasteners I attached the bracket to the front of the radio above the jack. No more cables needed.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Polk works from fa, just wish it would allow me to pair ad soon as I get back to its location . October 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Now I need more Blutooth transmitters I have an assortment of Bluetooth receivers, speakers and one head set but not a radio combo. Now I can use my Dewalt Field, Work radio and listen to Pandora with no commercials. Easy to pair and works great. Haven't used long enough to see just how long it lasts on a single charge but so far has lasted over 10 hrs., off and on. I have two headsets, one with and one without Bluetooth, both you can plug in AUX. Now I have two with Bluetooth. Have to try and see if I can plug into the AUX jack in the truck. July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it! Love it, it lets me stream music to my worksite radio without having to deal with cords or have to leave my phone by the radio. August 2, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Takes over microphone but has no microphone. Nice little unit for an iPod type device, but on an iPhone it hyjacks the microphone input. So no Siri or phone calls when it's parred with the phone (even though the instructions claim you can use the phone). Likely means the electronics in it identify themselves as having a mic but don't have one wired in. Sadly iOS doesn’t let you change the input source. May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dewalt Bluetooth radio adapter The product is great I would recommend it to all my friends and family May 3, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by was good, but fell flat. twice I bought this bluetooth device to install on an ammocan boom box I made and it worked well for a little over a month before it completey stopped working all together. I thought maybe it was a fluke, so i purchased another. it also lasted a little over a month before the same thing happened. I do not recomend this product. January 10, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not as good as the claim on the package It says it's good for upto 100'. I can't get 25' from my radio before it starts cutting out. December 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by No title Works absolutely great!! Even in really cold weather it keeps going. December 31, 2015
