Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by 8% Cobalt bits are brittle and break easily I have to drill multiple holes in stainless steel at work with a cordless drill. The stainless is very hard; only Titanium, Carbide, or Cobalt drills can touch it. I bought these bits because they're very high in Cobalt: 8%. My thinking was that this would increase their hardness. Well, it did. They were very hard. They were also very brittle. It turns out you're only supposed to use 8% bits in machine tools like a drill press or vertical mill. Using them in powered hand tools makes them chip easily and shatter often. I returned this set and bought a 5% set from another store in mid February. It's a month later and the 5% bits have been serving me well so far. March 11, 2014
