12V Battery for DeWalt DCR018 Radio

I have looked at all info., including the DeWalt web site.

I still can not say for sure whether this radio can use my 12V XRP batteries.

The spec. says it can use the 12V Max and 18V XRP, as if maybe intentionally omitting 12V XRP.

I even checked the user manual, which I expected to list the applicable battery types, but still no luck.

Answer:
I bought it and tried it. The 12V XRP battery DOES work, 100%.
One minor detail is that while it is held in place snugly by the plug mechism, the latches on the side of the battery do not engage the mating latches on the radio. It is still is held firmly in place (by the plug), but a hard impact, e.g. a fall, might jar the battery loose.

Answer:
Not sure if it will use that battery. mine will run off of the regular 18 volt, I would assume yours would work. If not you can always return it.

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 44 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Entertainer I wish it charged batteries, but other than that it works great. Very easy to use. Weighs 1/2 of what my previous radio weighed. September 20, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by big punch small package product is small like I wanted but packs a big punch. Quality is great. Works off cord or battery. It does not charge the battery when plugged in or I would have gave it 5 stars. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great I love it, can lack some signal though in the country. But overall good sound and very portable June 25, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fun times It's great for camping or just doing work out in the yard May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by happy with what it is! I was aware that it doesnt charge batteries! I have seven batteries so that wasn't an issue. Sounds just fine. Reception seems a touch better than the other 20v max radio. My only concearn is that when powered by a battery the battery is exposed. Not really to big of an issue with the 1.5 ah battery but the the 3 and 4 ah batteries it's like having a brick on the back of the radio. Not a deal breaker though. Small footprint in the truck, a plus! Works and sounds fine. May 12, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by too quiet It doesn't charge batteries, won't charge cell phone battery, not loud enough for an actual work site, really disappointed because I love dewalt and collect all their 20v tools. Returned immediately :( June 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by my second one This is a replacement for the first one I had which I accidently ran over with a 60ft boom lift on soft soil it still played but was really mangled up it took two more places ever it to kill it. I and others were amazed at its strength. April 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing Radio that also charges batteries. The DeWalt cordless radio is Perfect. Not only can I listen to Music while working. The DeWalt radio also charges batteries for my power tools. December 30, 2015
