How do you get the knife blades out of the container?

Asked by: Mark
With your right thumb push the yellow hinge out and upwards...as the yellow hinge does up it pulls a. blade up as well... If your thumb doesn't do it pry the yellow hinge up with a small screwdriver

how do you get the blades out

have read the submitted answers and after spending the last hour will be taking this back to Home Depot, it's possible it's a product defect but buying a product that is so unintuitive and lacking any sort of instructions will certainly influence future purchases with DeWalt brand name.

you don't need to remove the clear plastic. it's supposed to work by pulling on the bottom yellow portion, swinging out the yellow serving tray from the right side (pivot hinge on the left) serving you a blade. it should be fairly easy to swing out. if not, it helps to push it from the back instead of pulling it from the front: flip it over and look at the back - you'll see the yellow pivot on the lower right and a yellow tab-thing on the lower left. take a screw driver and push this yellow tab-thing thru to the front. this will force the serving tray to swing out. My tab-thing was stuck due to rough plastic edges. it needed forcing to free it up. then I used the blade to shave off the rough edges. now it swings freely and doesn't get stuck.

Is there any way to reload the container? I noticed a slot on the top that looks like you can.

Asked by: Jerry
the slot on the top is for the used blades

Heavy-Duty Blades for Utility Knives (75-Pack) is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best blades! I bought these last year and could not believe how much sharper they were to other brands! The bad reviews saying they can't figure out how to get the blades out should be removed. Seriously if you can't figure this out then you shouldn't be using them. Just by looking at it you can tell that the yellow piece hinges out to reveal a blade.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality Does not hold up to comparable blades. Wears out too quickly, Though, they are cheap, it's still not worth it. Better off buying different brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MUCH better than Husky Blades I have always had good experience with DeWalt utility blades. Ran out of an old DeWalt 100 pack a few weeks back and had to grab Husky Heavy Duty 10 pack in a hurry. Had been cutting plastics (not as hard as PVC pipe) with the Husky blades and they were horrible. Cutting with these new blades is like night and day when compared to the Husky blades. The DeWalts are sharper, the points don't break off as easily, and they do indeed last longer. I agree with the other reviews about there being no instructions on how to get the blades out. I consider myself an intelligent guy and it took me a few minutes to figure it out...more than it should have!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Blades are effective and the dispenser works pretty good. No compaints. Nice case and dispenser. Blades seem to cut well and last as expected.
