The Dewalt Master Hole Saw Kit (14 pieces) includes all the typical sizes needed for electrical, plumbing or carpentry work. The kit consists of bi-metal saw holes from ¾ inch to 2-1/2 inches, mandrels, extra bits, allen wrench and spare screws all stored in the case. The two mandrels are for small and larger size saw hole attachments. The smaller one is typical with a locking mechanism and both can take other manufacturers saw hole attachments. The other one is for larger sizes and has two bolts on a spring which go up into corresponding holes in the saw, lock down the saw hole in addition to the center threaded connection. The drill guide in the middle of the mandrel is adjustable with the screw on the side to set the depth and allows you to start the guide hole before the saw comes in contact with the material. An added advantage is that the saw can be removed from the mandrel without the need for tools. The saw holes all have openings on the side to pry out the scrap wood plug, if needed. I didn't have any projects to use this kit on just yet so drilled holes in some 2x4's and was impressed with the biting power of the tool. Just don't force it and let the tough bi-metal teeth do their job. If you need to cut wall stud openings for electrical and plumbing work this kit is right for the job.

The kit comes in a hard plastic tool box, with metal clasps, inside you'll find the 11 hole saws with a diagram that shows placement. Putting on the hole saws couldn't be simpler, tool free. Check to see which mandrel will fit the holesaw, the bigger the holesaw you will use the mandrel with the locking pins, needs 1/2” drill. I found in using this mandrel the brushed chrome piece fits perfectly in the web in the palm between the index figure and thumb, push down while threading the holesaw until tight and the pins are secure in the holesaw.
Not being a contractor with an arsenal of tools I stumble through certain projects, let me be honest, most projects. One being in remodeling the kitchen. The plumbing comes up thru the basement where a pre-existing hole existed in the sub-floor but holes had to be drilled through the base of the cabinet and in a few other sections. Made one hole for the supply and another for the drain. The Dewalt hole saw performed perfectly, sharp and precise with the pilot hole drill bit.

Very nice looking kit with a blade "map" in the case that tells you the size of each blade. The photo in the ad doesn't clearly show all sizes so I have attached a better photo of the map. Nice latches on each side of the case. Two impressive looking mandrels (one for each general size).
The saws seem to work well, but I was only able to test with wood, not metal. The results were a bit mixed. The blades stayed sharp throughout the process. The holes were good enough but the yellow paint came off very quickly and easily, not that it matters much. For a while I could not figure out the mandrel for the smaller blades. It has a "quick release" indicated on the box instructions (no printed manual is included). I could not easily determine how to operate the release even though there are two numbered arrows on the part. It did not seem to do anything. Then I tried tightening the blade as if it had been used for a difficult job. The operation of the collar became clear as it released the saw just enough to be able to remove it by hand. Nothing very noticeable happens, and that fooled me into thinking nothing was happening at all. Just try it, it will work for you. The mandrel for the larger saws works in an obvious manner. Release the pins, screw down the saw by hand, and then engage the pins into the holes in the saw blade. Most of the holes I made were using the 1" blade and none of the material was left stuck inside the blades. So none required "prying" them out.
Inside the case, in a small compartment below one of the mandrels, is a kit of 2 spare bits, 2 set screws and an Allen wrench.
The case is sturdy and has two nice metal latches to hold it closed securely. The case hinge has a metal pin for strength and will not wear away like some plastic "flex" hinges.
I made sure that all of the blades were the correct sizes, so did not have the same issue as "MockUpGuy"
Nice blade set. Good mandrels that are easy to use without any special tools. Sturdy well-designed case.

The small case makes it easy to store and carry around on the jobsite. All the common sizes you need.

Purchased this master kit for a large variety of sizes, but was displeased when I discovered a second 1 3/8 in place of the 1 1/2". This seems like a lazy error on manufacturing's side that is pretty obvious. No me gusta lazy mistakes. Otherwise a quality product, I will purchase the 1 1/2" separate.
