No they are not that large , the large will open to about 12 " to 13" and the medium to about 5" to 6". They do not show it on the web page but I went to the Home Depot in Southhaven Ms and they had 36" & larger in store.

Answer:
The 3.75" "opening" is actually the depth of the clamp, so that the pads can reach 3.75" from the edge of the wood you are clamping before the bar hits the wood.

I am actually not sure what the 3.75 opening in home depots specs is supposed to mean. The Large clamps open a little over 12 inches and the medium clamps open a little over 6 inches.

Answer:
These clamps are as good if not better than the Irwins. I have some Irwing quick clamps and use these dewalts and the Irwin interchangeably. They are both strong clamps that come in a veriety of different lengths and handle sizes for more clamping pressure.

The Clamps are much stronger than Irwin; The larger clamps have a bigger clamping footprint than the Irwin clamps. Note Dewalt clamps are also reversible to apply a spreading force. The large clamps open 12.25" and the smaller clamps open 6.125".

Medium and Large Trigger Clamp (4-Pack) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 130.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clamps!! I do hobbie work building guitars and other stringed instruments. These clamps are delicate enough and don't mar a surface. They are a good quality and they are a good value

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent but Limited Utility Clamps The clamps are stable and work for most applications, but do not have gripping power needed to firmly hold a small piece of wood being drilled or for any vice-like role. Specifically, a 3/4" x 3/4" x 2" piece of wood twisted out of the clamp when on a drill press with an 8mm drill. I've switched to a C-clamp instead. They are great for holding together pieces being glued or nailed. The rubber cushions are stable and integral. The clamp action and trigger release work smoothly.

They have been a lifesaver putting together a workbench. I wish the 6" clamps were 6-1/4" because they would be as useful and easy as the larger clamps for this project. They did, at maximum, clamp the plywood to the 2x6, but I was afraid I would break them. They didn't break. And I will likely pick up another set today.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quick Clamps I bought these to replace some Irwin clamps that had broke on me. I liked the Irwins that I had for a long time and was just going to buy replacements. However, I could not find them and bought this set instead. I'm glad I did since these are more ridgid and seem to hold the pieces a bit better without as much flexing of the clamp. I would get these over the Irwins.

They seem well built, and a great buy at this price point. If purchased separately, they would be around twice the price, and inline with the cost of other brands. They operate smoothly and don't slip under heavier clamping force. I have not yet used them as spreaders, but it is easy to reconfigure them.

That extra gripping strength has been useful in several recent projects. (A small disadvantage is the quick slide release is a bit higher friction). Also, the price for the set of four is a steep discount relative to individual clamps.
