what size nials do i use for fence 3/4 picket and 2x4

Asked by: willy
2" work good. 2x4 is 1 1/2 and pickets are usually 5/8 thick so 2" won't protrude

will this gun work on LP SMARTSIDE ? And what nails are recommended?
Asked by: Help
I used for hanging LP smartside 1"x4" trim boards and it worked great. (My siding was hardi-plank which it worked fine for as well). In my opinion this would work fine. Suggest you check siding mfg for nail length recommendation - usually it's about 2" which this tool accommodates. (nail length for this gun can range from 1.25" to 2.5")

I am not a siding contractor but did use this for a relatively large job hanging fiber cement siding (similar to Hardi-plank). This nailer performed excellently. Beats the heck out of hand nailing, and if you have ever tried hanging siding with a framing nailer this tool beats that method hands down. Lightweight, comfortable to use, easy depth adjustment. The only thing I would remind purchasers is that, contrary to many other nailers one may purchase, this tool has the contact trigger installed as the factory default. Thus, with the trigger pulled it will fire nails when the nose is depressed. Most of the nail guns I've purchased in the past come stock with the "sequential trip trigger" installed (i.e., single fire). So, if you have younger (or not very experienced) folks around helping you on your job, if you want to be a bit safer, perhaps changing out to the sequential trip trigger is something to consider. Both triggers are included and it is easy to swap them out. Directions are included and the triggers are color coded (Black = contact trigger; Grey = sequential trip). Loading is intuitive and easy, fired a truck load of nails over the course of the project and did not experience a single jam. Bottomline, I was very satisfied with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product People that have never used them before there is a setting in the compartment where you put the nails to adjust for different sized nails so they don't flop around. If you don't adjust it to your nail size it will jam sometimes. Which is not a default of the gun it's just most people grab and go and wouldn't pay that any attention. I bought 2 of them this week!
