Customer Questions & Answers

Pulley with this motor

It says the belt pulley should be screwed on 2 1/2 turns away from the other half of of the pulley. Does anyone know how many turns it should be with this size motor?
Asked by: cloe
You mist supply your own pulley. Use the one that came with the original cooler. You are simply replacing the motor.

How many speeds?

The image shows this is a 2-speed motor (reading the nameplate) but the description does not say. Is this really a 2 speed motor?
Asked by: Bob

I bought. A one horse motor and when I installed it but it works for a few seconds and then it shuts off?

Asked by: Gio
this is a large motor for a large commercial-size cooler. It needs a 20amp 115VAC circuit. Perhaps you are tripping a 15amp breaker. My cooler is 4' x 4' x4' and sits on the ground. The new motor has never tripped the 20amp breaker.

Shaft size on this motor says .675" that would be very odd... Maybe that's an error and it should read .625" as in 5/8

Asked by: paul
Yes, the shaft size is an error and should read .625".

Customer Reviews

1 HP Evaporative Cooler Motor is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very prompt delivery The original cooler motor lasted 22 years; I hope this replacement does as well. Check with me in 22 years. The change-out was very quick and simple. You must have a pulley puller to remove the pulley from the old motor. I was so glad that Home Depot had free shipping; motors are quite heavy. I also shopped Amazon but they did not carry this item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Evaporative cooler replacement motor works well Our 14 year old UltraCool ADA70 Evaporative Cooler had a problem with the cooler motor not running at full speed at the highest setting. We ordered this Dial replacement motor from HomeDepot and it came in a couple of days and easily and precisely replaced our OEM motor. We were able to use the existing wiring and pulley and simply replaced it. Our cooler now works very well with this new motor just like it did originally 14 years ago. It was expensive but seems of great quality.
