Can this unit be used with no problem on a regular faucet--and what would be the reason for using it rather than the regular valve?

BIG PAIN !! Instead, lets run this line to the garden hose spigot, route it up to the
(roof mounted) cooler, and get the cooler going straight-away.. It's getting HOT in here!!
I think the brass valve attachment is intended for standard garden hose-style outdoor spigot,
as opposed to a bathroom or kitchen faucet connection. You'd just spin the brass valve onto the
garden spigot and attach the needle valve & plastic pipe, connect your garden hose to the remaining
outlet, and !VIOLA! you now have a working swamp cooler AND access to your garden spigot, as before.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Just average, leaks, do good inventory if in store. I bought this kit to hook up my mastercool evaporative cooler window unit MCP44. The first kit I bought was missing a compression sleeve and 1/4" adapter for put hose on silcock. It is easy to install and I put one of those in line scale filters in. The problem is that it leaks where it connects to the evap. cooler. It is a constant drip that tightening and trying another compression sleeve has not fixed. The solution, keep a bucket underneath that I dump everyday somewhere in the garden. I would spend the extra $10 or so for the metal hose kit. May 14, 2016
