Answer:
This is a pump to pump the water from the evaporative cooler pan up into the veins that put the water on the cooling pads of the cooler. The pump bottom needs to always be sitting in the water or it will run dry and burn out. The whole pump is not suppose to be under water (submersible) but yes the bottom part is to sit in the water usually about 2-3 inches of water in cooler bottom pan.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst pump ever I bought this pump in July and it only worked for 30 days! It did not keep the cooler pads wet enough. I have a Mastercool 6600 cooler and this pump was recommended by the store associate. Piece of junk, would not recommend to anyone. I have a clean machine on my cooler as well and the water has no build up or mineral deposits at all and this pump was worthless. Do not buy this pump. August 20, 2015
