Poly Drip Tubing

Will this Poly Drip Tubing crack and get brittle after about 5 or 6 years underground. I live in the southern part of Arizona. My landscaper told me the Poly Drip Tubing gets brittle over time and causes leaks in the watering system. I wanted to check with you people to see if this is true. Thank you Don Sprouls
Asked by: DonRoni
I live in the high desert of California and the tubing is installed above ground on hundred of bushes and hundreds of trees. I run lengths of 400 to 500 feet around vegetation.I get five to six years out of the tubing and then it becomes brittle, and I get massive water leaks. I have begun installing standard while 1/2" PVC under ground and then I bring short lengths of the poly drip tubing and connect the two together with a PVC compression fitting. This means the leaks are isolated to individual trees and bushes (3 bushes connected to one PVC compression fitting) and no lengths of poly tubing just siting on the ground.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast, Easy, Reliable Watering Systems Component We live in rural Western Washington State. Surprisingly, watering is necessary in the summer months and we need a flexible, easily maintained, easily changed watering system. The DIG poly tubing allows us to easily expand, contract, and modify our watering system. The 1/2 inch tubing delivers a volume of water sufficient to reach just about anywhere on our 3 acre parcel. Despite branching, adding new areas, and various other things that might tax its capability, the DIG tubing has never failed us. It is easy to install. If you can push two things together, you can use this highly flexible system. Adapters come in a wide range of types from 'L's to 'T's to adapters for splicing pieces and connecting garden hoses. Please refer to the attached photos to see how connectors can be used to branch lines to various areas. The connections depicted water 8 garden beds and 5 free standing trees - all from one garden hose feed. That's impressive by any standard. In the middle of this year's expansion of our system to some new garden beds, we had to leave on a research trip for our newest novel. There was no time to connect a permanent water line feed to the DIG tubing. As you can see in the photo, the quick solution of a hose end adapter worked very well. The gardens look great and are flourishing after our two week absence. DIG's tubing can be buried as still put up with significant foot and wheelbarrow traffic. It stands up well to winter cold and summer heat. Changing watering features is as simple as removing the unwanted 1/4 inch tubing, inserting a DIG 'goof' plug, and running the new 1/4 inch tubing to the desired place. It is so durable that parts of our watering system are made up of reclaimed and reused DIG 1/2 inch tubing. It's really that good. We swear by DIG 1/2 inch tubing. For reliability, durability, flexibility and - above all - value, you simply cannot beat DIG.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saves A Ton On Water I'm using this drip tubing for my vegetable garden and it's saving me a ton on water. I like that you can direct the water to the roots of the plant. Here's a list of accessories that will work well in completing the installation of your drip system: 1/4 inch hole punch (to make holes in the tubing); 0-10 gph adjustable multi-stream dripper (emitters) so you can adjust the amount of water flowing to each plant and goof plugs (just in case you need to plug unwanted holes at a later date).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good stuff Been using this for years, just cannot buy in Arkansas, they never heard of irritation for gardens, well I only know of one other person who grow grapes that uses it. Great way to water and save money on water and tomatoes love being watered this way, and are healthier for it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Take the time to carefully unwind the coil I had a rats nest with my first 500 feet, Then it crimped at stress points and eventually leaked as the crimp weakened the pipe walls, my second 500 feet I took the time to uncoil and kept the tape inside the coil as I unwound it, no kinks...Good thing the price is right but still have to wait for delivery
