How do you connect this to a faucet?

Asked by: sftroll
This is a drip line that has a .52 GPH drip emitter every 12 inches. You can connect this drip line to the faucet using one of the two options with option not recommended.. Recommended option: Use pressure regulator, part # D46 and connect it to the faucet. Use part # C37B, 3/4 inch FHT adapter and connect a section of 1/4 inch micro tubing, part # B38 for 50 feet into this 3/4 inch, FHT x 1/4 inch compression adapter. Connect the 3/4 inch adapter to the pressure regulator. Run the micro tubing to the area where you will use the 1/4 inch drip line. Connect the drip line into the micro tubing using a 1/4 inch barb , part # H80A for pack of 10. Turn the water on and flush the line. Close the end of the 1/4 inch drip line with goof plug, part # G79B. turn the system on and enjoy a nice operating system. To automate, use ond of DIG battery operated or solar powered timer. Option 2 not recommended: Connect the drip line directly into the adapter with the pressure regulator. DIG

1/4 in. x 50 ft. Soaker Hose Dripline is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 36.

I ran three rows of this tubing, each about 30 feet long for my garden. Each row was supplied directly from a 3/4" hose connection (A 1 into 4 hose manifold was used). I got very consistent pressure and volume along the entire length of each row. The necessary fittings and adapters are cheap, easy to use, and abundant at the store. I believe that the 12" spacing is a stretch but is sufficient as long as you soak for a while. Very good bang for the buck!

I've used this hose for my flower beds and vegetable garden for years, but this time I'm trying a grand experiment. I'm installing the tubing about 3/4 inch below the surface of my lawn in an attempt to get a perfectly green lawn, with less water. Our city here has a critical ground water shortage. There is no way to keep the lawns here green, and stay in the low recommended water usage, which is enforced by really sky rocketing prices for exceeding the baseline use. About half of the houses in town have given up, and just turned off the lawn watering system, which quickly looks very ugly. With sprinklers, so much of the water is wasted on overshoot, wind spray etc., but the biggest waste is wetting the grass above the surface, which is just lost to evaporation because the sun here is so bright/hot. I tried a small area with one dripper hose, and after about a month, it was the best looking, healthiest spot in the yard. Now, I've done an area about six feet by ten feet. It takes a number of weeks for the grass to change and be really able utilize the subsurface water well, but when it transforms, hopefully much less water will be used for perfect looking grass. It's no easy job to install the dripper tubing slightly below the surface on large area, of well established grass. The sod is so tough, and the tube wants to pop up so much. I built a special tool to help make that practical. Time will tell if the larger trial works as well as the smaller trial, but I've got good hopes one week into the trial.

I had been using the Toro blueline, and if I remember correctly it had emitters embedded every 6". This line has its emitter placed every 12". It isn't really critical, just not quite as effective to delivering water as close to the base of the plant is all, but still close enough to be effective.

No real problems, other then, did not order enough. But I have some adjustable sprayer pieces, to make-up for the lack of judgement, on how much I needed. Wasn't off by much, just a few feet. So, no worries there. If anyone else does order it, best to order double what you think you will need. This way, you will at least have extra, for repairs if need be later. Same goes with the normal no hole line, as well. Same goes for the connections, like the 1/4" barbed piece's. Especially if you are doing a large area. BTW, once you do get the barbs in. You may not be able to easily get them back out! If you have a hard time with that, you can make a small slit in the hose, just long enough to loosen the hose from the barb. Granted, will have to go straight with the hose and have that small section cut-off, to be able to insert the barbed end in, again. So it catches and doesn't just pop right back out again.

The reason I gave it four stars instead of five, because you have to inspect the hose before you lay it down. I found one out of about 6 of the opening need to be adjusted. I lost some succulents because the were getting too much water.

There is a dripper every foot but in some cases I wish there was one every inch. The dripper does not seem to have the same water output as my single 1 gph drippers due, it appears to have a little less.

I did not realized that it was already punctured to drip. It was not what I needed for the application that I was using it for.
