Customer Questions & Answers

Does this product require a backflow preventer if the sprinkler heads are several feet higher than the valve?

I have 9 micro sprinkler head up slope between 3 and 5 feet higher than the location of the valve. Does this product have a built in backflow check valve?
Asked by: Bob
This product does not have any backflow prevention; you must have backflow prevention upstream of the valve. Alternatively, you can get an anti-siphon valve, which has built-in backflow prevention, but it must be installed above the highest downstream output for it to work properly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from do not buy this Looked like a great product at an even better price, considering all the functions it fulfills, but it wasted a great deal of my time, energy, and mileage. There is a small lever on the valve housing just below the solenoid that allows you to open the valve manually. Basically, it lifts up the solenoid plunger. It also leaks--sprays--water everywhere in either the on or off positions. It is cheap piece of plastic with no seal. Let's face it, most of us are not set up to bench test a product like this, before we go to the trouble of installing it on a system. There were no available reviews of this product before I bought it. I have installed many residential irrigation systems for my homes, rental properties, as well as friends and family. So it's back to the store to return it. I'll buy the necessary and proven components separately this time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from no stars Just like the other review... leaks... doesn't actuate... must manually activate water... but it shuts off fine... second valve I've replaced.... now I have to rip it out to replace it with an orbit or rain bird system... DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM DIG
