I can't speak to longevity, since I'm reviewing this only a few days after I installed it. But I can review some features:
^The main body is tough enough to withstand screwing the fittings in very tight with wrenches. What I mean is that the body didn't crack or break when lots of pressure was applied to the threads.
^The instruction manual is quite clear about how to operate this unit. You know how some manuals are hard to read because it's translated badly from Chinese? Well this seems to have been written by someone who knows English very well and has actually operated the unit.
^Installation of batteries (not included) is very simple.
^Programming the unit is easy.
^It has a nice cover over the screen and buttons to keep dirt out.
^So far it works exactly as it should.
^The control unit has a spiral cord similar to an old phone cord. This allows a user to remove it from the body to a more comfortable position for programming. This is a very nice feature.

Turns on OK. Will NOT shut off the water flow. Controller indicates it is off but the water continues to flow through. Hundreds of gallons a day go to waste, far exceeding our water allowance.
Only way to stop the flow is to manually turn the water off at the source for a moment or two, then and only then will the solenoid close. Stays off until the next time it is scheduled to turn on, but then it will not turn off when sprinkler run time is finished.
Manual gives three suggestions to fix this, none of them work.
Called tech support but they offer neither solution nor workaround.
Warranty repair takes four weeks or more, the whole thing has to be taken out and shipped. My plants can't survive that long without water.
Replacement parts ordered on line cost the same as you pay for the whole thing at Home Depot with no assurance they will fix the problem plus there are shipping charges. Cheaper and quicker to buy a new one, but I have no confidence that a new one would work any better than this one.
I need to water my plants a couple of times a week. This week. I can't wait four to six weeks for warranty repairs.
I have to buy something else.

I didn't want to run wire 200' so I bought 4 of these timers. They are programmed to turn on twice a day and so far they are working great. They must be mounted at least 6" higher than the highest sprinkler head to work properly. I worry about the batteries leaking and ruining the electronics but will check them and change them out.

The watering valve worked as expected. It was not available in the store, but found it on line. It arrived sooner than expected.

I use these on my 3 acre property for my trees and tiered garden beds .. I have had parts fail, BUT I just call DIG and they send me replacement parts. Its under warranty for 3yrs. I like the battery operated valves because then I don't have to run electrical every where ..
Good product overall .. company backs their product, they have never asked me for proof of purchase, they just replace the parts. Will continue to buy when needed.
I think the people who don't like these don't realize you just have to call manufacture for replacement parts.

It took a long time for the distributor to ship the product to Home Depot because they do not normally stock the product. The product works great and is easy to install.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by outofcontrol Couldn't get it to work. Installed two
I was a little reserved when I went to the store and about half of these were returned. I bought 4 timers for an area of my yard which has no power. I installed only 1 of the 4 and couldn't get it to shut off. I read the manual and it said to check three things. All were good and still couldn't get it to work. I thought that the flow was to low but it is about 5 GPM and the lowest on the valve is .5. Well I installed another timer thinking the first was defective and had the same problem. Shame because I heard this company was one of the best.
