The kit included parts to hook up to the faucet, but I don't see why it couldn't be hooked up to the hose instead.

Answer:
Yes, the hoses will possibly stick up too high, or the stakes you fasten it down will. You would have to be careful to set the wheels on the mower high enough.

Buy the kit. Cut a slot in the lawn with a spade shovel and push the tube down in. Then close up the slot with back of shovel. Take a pic of your slot for reference years later.

As with any hose it should be moved before mowing so that the potential from damage from the mower is eliminated. Or run it thru a piece of PVC pipe and bury it. It would then be protected from the mower, you wouldn't have to move it every time you mow and if you used a 2" PVC pipe you could pull the systems tubing back out when it gets too cold and freezing may be an issue and put it back thru the PVC Read More

Can I use this for a Haitian orchard?

This question is from Drip and Micro Sprinkler Kit
July 17, 2016
Hi,
Along with my colleagues, I am looking into sprinkler irrigation systems for a farm in Haiti. I am also looking into micro irrigation systems for our orchard. Our orchard is 1 acre. These smaller sprinklers would be beneficial as the water can quickly reach the tree roots rather than hit the branches. Most of our trees require up to 20 gallons per week. Do you think this Micro Sprinkler Kit would work for our farm? We would need to purchase about 50.
Thank you so much.

It wouldn't hurt to buy a kit or two to experiment and get started. Many of the parts would work, but your operation is probably too big for this kit. You will need some parts that aren't in the kit, and you might do better to buy the hoses, connectors, drippers or sprinklers, and other parts you need and assemble them. For one acre, you'd probably want to start with 3/4" or 1" hose for the main supply to the orchard, although that really depends on the number or drippers or sprinklers you need. The number of drippers or sprinklers you can put on a line depends on the flow rate. If the dripper flow rate is 1 gallon an hour, I've found I can put about 7 of them on a 1/4 inch line. That might be reduced if there is much altitude variation along that line. So 1/2 inch line could probably handle 28 of them and 1 inch line should handle 106 of them. Since you have probably 400 or so trees in the orchard, you will probably want to zone it, too, since you probably can't push water to all of them at once. It doesn't look like you could water all of them at once through a 1 inch line. Read Less

I do not think this set is the fit for your use. This kit covers 700 square feet as is and can be expanded to over "1000 square feet" according to the manufacturer. How far over 1000 square feet is unclear. One acre, being 43,560 square feet, would require 43 kits, plus expansion material. Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 108 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ideal for Irrigating aBeds with Timer I did not order the starter kit as I felt I knew what I wanted to accomplish with the different beds I had to irrigate. Upon opening the box I was overwhelmed by the number of pieces included but after reading the brochures and using the picture/placard I layed out the tubing to soften it, bagged and labeled all the small pieces. Upon installing the tubing I allowed a couple of days for it to rest and settle into place, hooked up my timer added the pieces needed to irrigate and WOW. Excellent product.layed August 31, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fine for my needs Kit was missing the goof plugs and the oh-so important hole punch. I received them within a week of calling H-D about it. Not quite as easy to layout as other reviews say, but might just be my mechanical aptitude. Once I figured it out it went quickly. I had a sprinkler head blow off one of the stakes earlier this week, and the large hose is difficult to manage even with warming it up like recommended. This is a good kit for the price. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Happy with it Pretty happy with the product. Took about 4 hours to set it up. One of the sprinkler heads shot off and we had old faithful in the garden. We're out of town now - hopefully the remainder of the heads are fine. This set has too many sprinklers and not enough droppers. September 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beware! Very Large Box! This is a great little system to run along side of your house or inside mulch for taking care of those small bushes and plants near your home. The box is much bigger than expected because there is A LOT of tubing included! August 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install and works great Very easy to install and setup. Make sure to follow instructions, specially bleeding the line. I had to buy extra sets of barb connectors, and 2 GPH drip emitters. It would be great if the GE200 Kit included several 2 GPH emitters instead of just 1 GPH emitters. Other than that I am very satisfied. I am ready to install the second kit on the other half of my landscape. August 9, 2016
