Hey guys quick fact, the Hardie board and durock are both good, the Hardie is only rated for 11lbs per sq. Ft and the durock is rated at over 20 lbs per square

Answer:
DenseShield more light-weight and more easy to cut, and its waterproof. Duroc and Wonderboard stronger but more hard to work with. If you not planning fighting -in-the tub, DenseShield is the best.

Hello Rocky, thank you for your question regarding our Durock Cement Board. Wonderboard is a good product, but, of course we at USG are partial to our Durock Cement Board. Answer:
Hi Rocky,
For shower areas and bathrooms, I prefer to recommend the usage of HardiBacker instead of gypsum boards like Duroc or WonderBoard. HardiBacker is completely waterproof and provides a good substrate for installing tile over later on.

We would use a spacer between the board and a log wall. Is this material strong enough to support tile and be mounted upright. Thanks

Answer:
Hmm... its basically little mailing peanuts, mixed with cement and wrapped in mesh, so its not very strong comparing to Durock & more easy to cut - just by simple sharp knife. But it DOES hold tiles upright, and even stone tiles, for my surprise. (:

Answer:
Probably yes, if you waterproof it with something and if walls will not bear any load... these boards are easy to crumble under pressure.

Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 13 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product, used in outdoor kitchen. Easily cut with an angle grinder with a masonry disc, just don't forget your glasses and dust mask! October 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great tiling surface Used this for a shower surround. I cut it with a scorer and it is very messy to cut; powder and small chunks of cement everywhere. I used a dremel to cut a hole for the shower valve. I secured it to the studs with 1-5/8" cement board screws and to furring strips (exterior wall) with 1" cement board screws. I tape the seams and coated them lightly with thinset. I applied RedGard to the whole surround. The cement board has little dimples all over its surface so its critical to use a thick roller and at least two coats of RedGard to make sure you get in every little crevice. Afterwards, I had a solid surface to tile on. I like Durock better than its main competitor because I believe its more solid and durable. September 13, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ok purchase board was easy to work with and cut but I felt like it crumbled a little too easy September 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lighter WEight Board It's lighter weight, I've been laying tile for 20 years and it's never failed me August 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by skirting I read all the reviews at this site before I bought this product so I knew what to expect. Some crumbling around the edges, needs to be cut with a masonry saw blade for a clean edge. Will need to use some fill where slightly beveled edges come together. Sheets were square and of a better quality than the previous design - the next generation material. I took this into account in reading the reviews. Only complaint is in the store and the on-line ordering, I picked this order up the same day I ordered it but it is still listed on my account as "ready for pick up". For use as skirting we used a 12" center for better support, and will cover it most of the way to the concrete pad with the concrete siding that is on the double wide. June 24, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Durock Rocks! Customer Service is typically friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The floor associates at the Merritt Island Home Depot have become my DIY "go-to" experts! We used Durock in my renovated bathroom when we pulled out the old rusted tub and installed a gleaming new shower stall. April 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The Best! Purchased for the use of a foundation for a tiled-shower install. If creating a tiled shower, this is the product you need... period. March 10, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good I find this is more water resistant than the others brands, this isn't thirsty like Hardie bord or hardiebacker. July 11, 2015
