I put one of these in our safe and it works great. They seem to last 1-2 months before needing replaced but since they are inexpensive I don't mind.
The one thing I would caution is to be *very* careful when disposing of these things. While they are supposedly not toxic, the liquid (moisture combined with the silica gel) has proven very challenging to clean up if it's spilled. Water, soap, and traditional cleaners just spread the stuff around even though the cleanup instructions on the container state just water is supposed to work. We finally found a natural enzyme based cleaning solution which did the job but what a hassle!

My ranch at 5400' elevation has two travel trailers. I store 1/2 liter water bottles in the refrigerators (gas/electric off). During the day, warmer moist air condensers on the bottles, creating a moisture issue, both winter and summer (monsoon rains in Northern Arizona) These attract and retain the moisture, reducing rust and odor. I have been using these for a few years. Well worth the cost.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by HiHappyHands Good, But The Hanging Are Better
I bought two of these "bucket" type Damp Rid containers and two of the hanging Damp Rid products. These work ok, but I've noticed that the hanging type absorb the humidity faster and more completely. The buckets have a nice fresh scent and are refillable, but I'm going to buy the disposable hanging ones from now on.
