Rated 3 out of 5Â by Reshida Works But... Ick!
Used this product in conjunction with a dehumidifier. Granted, the product can't capture near as much water as the dehumidifier does, so my observation/review is based on the scent/deodorizing factor. I will agree that it (minimally) freshened the space (finished basement); however the product itself, looks horrible as it's being broken-down. The white crystals turn dingy-gray over time and just looks really gross. Not appealing in finished, decorated rooms.

I have been using this for about one month in my basement. The amount of water captured in the "cup" is absolutely amazing. To think all that moisture was previously in the air in the space under the stairs, it is no wonder I had mold on my golf clubs last summer. I've also tried the DampRid bags, which also work great, however I like the refillable just because there is less waste.

This is an amazing product. It has saved so many of our clothes from mildew and fiber breakdown.
We live in a coastal community (west) that while we don't have the humidity like other regions of the USA, we do have damp air. This product eliminates that from certain parts of our home. We used to have a chronic problem with one particular room in the house that would be suspect to mildew after heavy rain and light mildew during the spring and fall with heavy dew on the ground -- with moisture collecting on window panes.
We place this product near a window that stays open throughout the year and it just sucks the moisture right out of the area....leaving the surrounding objects free of mildew. We also put this in one closet that is affected by moisture. DamRid keeps the clothes dry and free from moisture residues.
If you live in a warm or dry area, you probably don't know what I am talking about. But if you live near the coast, bodies of water or have issues with dew and moisture in your home, then this is a must buy!
The can of what looks like sand is super easy to use too. It is durable and we buy the refill packages all the time. One container for where we live lasts about 45 days in the winter, 60 days in the spring and summer and about 90 days in the fall.

I have used Damp Rid products before and have been happy with the results. I use these primarily in our utility room, which seems to have a higher humidity level than the rest of our house on a year-round basis. The refillable option is a nice way to reduce the amount of waste going to land-fills, and it does just as good a job as the original Damp Rid product.
I have only given 4 stars, as I believe that a traditional dehumidifier is still more effective at pulling moisture from the air, and there really isn't any waste as a result of using one. The flip side, of course, is that you are running electricity around the clock, and have to empty the reservoir fairly frequently to ensure it continues to run.
There is definitely a convenience to setting a Damp Rid container out and being able to forget about it for a while (depending on how humid the space is). Personally, I have been using Damp Rid. It is sufficient for our moisture-control needs, and we don't have to have a constantly-running appliance adding to our utility bills. My dehumidifier has been collecting dust now for a number of years!

This really works to eliminate that damp smell in the basement. I used at the basement doorway. I plan on getting one for each corner of the basement. Easy to use, open the packet and pour in the container. Refills are available. The scent is not overpowering. No scent is also available.
