Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 27 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This freezer has a good amount of space and is efficient! Seriously, my new Danby 10.2 cu ft freezer is great! In addition to having plenty of room for food, replacing my old upright has saved me $20 a month on electricity! I couldn't be happier! Thank you, Home Depot! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pleased even those that are hard to please. I purchased this online for my parents who live 3 hours drive away. It was a Christmas present. I opted for the delivery to the room of use because my parents are in their 80's. Everything went as planned with the delivery and installation and it was no burden whatsoever on my parents. They are more pleased with this than anything else that that we have ever gotten them. Thier last freezer was old but still working so this was not a must-have gift. So even the picky were pleased. They especially liked the wire baskets (rather than plastic) and the ability to slide them back and forth to get at the items below. July 2, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great purchase we loaded the freezer with the help of HD staff into the back of our prius. that was a plus. when we unloaded it, we let it sit upright for 24 hours before plugging it in. (we did this with both freezers we have purchased 1 year apart. the first on is going stron and the second one just getting started with no problems noted.I like this size as I am short so I can reach the food at the bottom of the freezer. picking up the products at Home Depot is usually an easy process, however this time we seemed to have waited quite a while for them to find the freezer. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Third time was the charm.......... Overall, this freezer keeps things cold. I find the moveable baskets handy, and I like the side fixed basket also. It does tend to generate frost rapidly around the top of the freezer, although I live in a very humid climate. It took 3 tries to get this freezer delivered to my local store without damage. The first time, store employees noticed the damage and returned the freezer, which I appreciated. The second time, even thought there were supposed to be inspections, the freezer was badly damaged when I got it home and took off the packaging. I had to repack the freezer, reload it into my truck and return it to the store. Very frustrating. The third time, I had the freezer unpacked in the store and I inspected it there before taking it home. July 15, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great buy. Fit and finish are of high quality. Proportions are exactly what I imagined, and need. It freezes just fine. Downside is lack of locking mechanism, lack of interior lighting. Drain hole should be threaded to accommodate hose for easier defrosting, as it is very low to the ground; as it should be. Only time will tell whether or not the freezer will last. Delivery was as promised; on time. It would be helpful if they were to call before for any special arrangements. The driver did follow my written instructions. September 12, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Failed 2 months over warranty I bought this online 9/25/11, and came home late May this year, 2013 to a puddle on the floor and defrosting food. I had to call 3 repair companies, since the first 2 did not repair Danby products. The repairman said it was a refrigerant system failure- a gurgling in the coils indicated a leak. He was nice enough to not charge me for the bad news. Evidently since the chest freezers are wrapped in coils, it is not as fixable as uprights...and this system, with the energy star ranking, would work well if not cheaply made. Up until the failure, I liked the basket set-up, and despite a little frost on one side, it kept all my produce well-frozen. I kept it full, and only opened it once a week at most. Wish I had kept my 27 year-old 22cu.ft. that ran well...they evidently don't make them to last. What kind of energy savings is that?! July 30, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by This freezer is exactly what I expected in all catagories. The freezer is just the right size in regards to internal capacity. We are able to stock up on sale items at the grocery store. It also has perfect external diemensions for our space. The temperature is rock solid at 0 degrees according to a thermometer we placed in the freezer. The lack of a thermometer is the only detractor. It is required to set the temperature exactly and monitor it. Store associates were extremely helpful in this purchase even though it was an online buy. December 11, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best freezer I have owned I have never owned a freezer before, and I was somewhat concerned about the large size of this unit. But my wife found a way to fill it up. Be careful if it is connected to a GFCI outlet, as sometimes they may trip. This happened to us once, while we were having some electrical work done, and it went unnoticed for several days. Fortunately, there was no damage to the food. January 14, 2014
