Customer Reviews

18 in. Front Control Dishwasher in Stainless Steel-DISCONTINUED is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little dishwasher! I was a little reluctant to buy Danby, because I had never heard of it. Well, first of all it's made in Canada, a hint of good things to come. Here's what you need to know: Pros: Dishes come out clean, nice design, good quality. Cons: Front panel should be better reinforced. Other: Some may complain about long cycles, but those are needed to get energy star approval. Also, check the dimensions, this is an ultra compact model, so if you have standard lower kitchen cabinets, you'll lose a couple inches of potential dishwashing space in back and at the bottom. If money is not an issue, then get the GE Profile. Don't let the dimensions deter you, it's common in 18 inch dishwashers so that they fit a wider variety of spaces. Bottom line: Great dishwasher, don't be deterred by a new name and a low price. Oh, it also has an 18 month warranty (not standard 12).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Good Product This may be better than some dishwashers costing 50% more. It was the only 18" less than $1k with electronic controls. Easy to install and use. Racks are a bit flimsy or I would have rated 5 stars. Overall a very nice product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall great Overall we really like the dishwasher and I was a little nervous after reading some of the other reviews and not being able to see it prior to ordering it online. We have only had the dishwasher installed for a few weeks but it works great. We have a family of 3 and fit quite a bit in the machine. Only reason for not 5 stars are pretty minimal: I wish the buttons explained what cycle they were rather than just a picture (the pictures dont make sense, and I always forget), and the silverware rack is a little cheap. I had been worried that the front would be really cheap based on other reviews, but I am actually okay with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cheap outside, expensive interior, cheap racks This product is nice looking on the outside, but the stainless steel on the outside flexes when you push on it. The rack design isn't the greatest, but not the worst. The inside of the unit seems to be high quality stainless. The racks are fine but maybe could have been a bit more heavy duty. If you pull too hard when pulling out the bottom rack, it might go flying! The dishes seem to get sparkly clean so no complaint there. I used the cycle that takes over an hour - there are 3 that take longer but it seems like overkill. Just started using the product - time will tell! It had the best ratings of the 18 inch dishwashers and a significantly lower price than the more recognizable brands, even with shipping. Shipping was precise and unit came in perfect shape, as scheduled.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased with our dishwasher. We have a duplex and had a Danby installed in the one side a few years ago. We liked it so well we were glad to be able get one for the other side of the duplex. It does a great job, is pretty quiet, and is very easy to use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect size, great value Like other reviewers, I was hesitant to purchase this brand since I had not heard of it before. I spent some time researching reviews over the internet, and generally found it to receive good ratings. I've had the Danby dishwasher for about a month now, and think it's great! Pros: 1. Sleek, stainless steel design enhances the look of any kitchen. 2. Fits in a very small kitchen easily. There was even extra space above the dishwasher. 3. Relatively inexpensive compared to other brands. You get more for your money (e.g. electronic controls). 4. Fits a variety of dishes. Silverware rack can be removed to add other dishes. 5. Easy to operate. Cons: 1. Takes about 3 hours to clean/dry; however, this is normal with Energy Star rated products. 2. Instruction/installation manual is completely wrong. The order of the instructions and reference to other pages are all incorrect. Not sure what happened there. Once installed, it was easy to operate. 3. The dishwasher does not dry well without adding rinse aid to the dispenser. I didn't need this with my previous dishwasher, so it's an additional purchase I need to make. However, it requires very little rinse aid for many loads. Overall, this dishwasher does exactly what we need it to do without spending a fortune.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from performs as promised I didn't want to loose two cabinets by going with a full size dishwasher. This unit only required loosing one. It performs exactly as promised - quiet, simple to use, washes well, and holds sufficient quantity of dishes. You can't jam many pots and pans into one load, but I can hand wash those. Use the modern, high quality gel pack soap, and forget the nonsense about needing water softening salt and drying agent. The normal wash takes 2:45.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great value for money I have been using it for a few weeks now. It does the job. It is all very clean. I have no problem to get the dishes dry upon finish a cycle opposite to some other reviews I read. I open the door once the cycle is finished and it takes cares or any water left on the dishes. I also use jet dry which make it sparkling nice even for crystal. It is a tiny loud but not extremely loud. Definitely a great value for money
