Unfortunatly, no. it does not hold magnum/1.5L or bigger bottles. The shelves are set to hold standard 750ml bottles.

Im thinking of placing this on carpet. Would there be enough room for ventilation or should I place this on a wooden/tile base?

Answer:
Hello, In order to have the proper air circulation and prevent humidity from forming, it is not recommended to install the unit directly on the carpet. The carpet acts as an insulator which will block the air flow.

I am very happy with my Danby wine cooler which I have had now for 3 weeks. I am a big wine person and this is my third wine cooler which I bought to supplement my large wine cooler which stores over 200 bottles. I bought the danby cooler as I found my large unit was not keeping the bottles on my bottom rack cool enough (i.e. 55 degrees). It took me a few weeks to get my danby running a pretty consistent 55F as the thermostat is very sensitive and I have to have mine down close to the minimum setting. I left a very accurate thermometer in the cooler for a few weeks to make sure it was staying steady at 55 degrees and it seems to vary only slightly +/- one degree which is exceptional. I am very happy with it, thought the price, value combination was excellent!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simply does the job The unit was very simple to put to use. Simply plug it in. Temperature setting is done with a knob on the upper back. It takes some adjusting and a cooler thermometer to know what setting is best for the environment. My only suggestion would be to either label the knob with temperatures or to include a digital thermometer display inside the cooler so you know how cool/warm your wine storage is. Also, shelving space does not allow for larger diameter bottles, like a champagne bottle.

After adjusting the leveling leg I still had to use a shim to get the unit balanced. There is no digital display for the inside temperature, and the unit is noisy when it cycles. I selected the unit because it held a few more bottles than our previous cooler, which died. My fault for not doing more research before selecting this model.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wine cooler So far so good. Only negative for me is that the light has to be switched on manually. Should go on when you open the door. In my opinion.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Broken Received cracked and the temperatures on max won't go below 55 degrees not the 42 the stats claim. Also Home Depot sees it fit to change the price the day after I purchase it.
